From Indie Brands to Global Names

One of the defining characteristics of today’s beauty industry is the variety of brands bringing new products to market.
Alongside household names are independent businesses developing innovative formulations, sustainable packaging and new approaches to green beauty. Many of these brands now compete for recognition in the same awards programmes, creating a level playing field where products are judged on quality rather than company size.
The Global Green Beauty Awards has reflected this shift since its launch. Previous winners have included internationally recognised brands such as Molton Brown, Rituals, AVON, Paul Mitchell, Tata Harper, Weleda and MUA Makeup Academy, alongside independent brands from around the world.
For emerging brands, appearing alongside established names demonstrates that innovation can come from anywhere. For larger companies, competing in the same categories reinforces the growing importance of sustainability, ingredient transparency and product performance.
As consumer expectations continue to evolve, the distinction between independent and global beauty brands has become less important than the products themselves. Whether a formulation is developed by a small founder-led business or an international manufacturer, the same qualities continue to stand out: efficacy, innovation and a genuine commitment to greener beauty.
That is one of the reasons beauty awards continue to play an important role across the industry. They provide independent recognition, highlight new product development and introduce retailers, journalists and consumers to brands they may not have discovered otherwise.
Entries for the Global Green Beauty Awards 2026 remain open until 17 August.
