Wow. It's been an exhilarating start to the year with our UK Beauty Awards. As part of a Global beauty awards group, we work through the year providing the following 5 awards:
UK Global Makeup Awards (our local beauty awards for new trends.) ASIA Global Makeup Awards (perfect for the Asian beauty award market, and also includes New Zealand and Australia beauty awards.) USA Global Makeup Awards (for the American Beauty Award market - a very interesting concept as USA Beauty Awards is not such a recognised concept compared to the other geographical markets - especially the UK where Beauty Awards are huge!) Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards and last but not least, the Global Green Beauty Awards (our biggest green and clean beauty awards which opens from mid March.) The 2021 UK Global Makeup Awards is drawing to a close with entries closing in two weeks, on 15th March 2021. Immediately after, the 2021 Global Green Beauty Awards open. It has been exhilarating for the UK market, as after the success of last year, which was our biggest year to date, who knew what the future would hold for 2021 which sees the UK reeling from the effects of its biggest recesion to date due to the coronavirus outbreak. The beauty industry was particularly hard hit, as the high street was closed, and with many people who had lost their jobs, there was less to spend on high end beauty items. On the other hand, self-care has never been so important - and home hair kits and home spa products have seen a rise. Our beauty predictions for 2021 from what we've seen so far is a leap towards more affordable and more eco beauty goods that you can use at home. Unfortunately, we've also seen a lot of famous beauty houses collapse. Victoria Beckham Beauty has closed its London store. Other colour cosmetics brands have taken a hit, as with social venues and work places being closed people just don't need it. Overwhelmingly, we have seen an increased demand for skincare haircare, wellness and of course sanitization. We have seen many beauty brands bring out hand sanitisers and hand creams and soaps in a reaction against the COVID19 pandemic. In fact at the start of the pandemic, you couldn't find hand soap or hand sanitiser for love nor money in any supermarket or pharmacy. OUr UK 2021 Global Makeup Awards responded to this with the following new categories: Best New Health and Wellness Product Best New Hand Cream Best Soap Bar Best Liquid Soap Best Hand Sanitiser After a year of meticulously washing and scrubbing our hands - we are all desperate for new finds in these categories which look after our hands and care for them. All of your beauty predictions with be proven (or otherwise!) in our winners list in April's Global Makeup Magazine. There are still two weeks left to enter our UK beauty awards, and if you have an ASIAN beauty brand you can enter our Asia beauty Awards the 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards until April. Hello you beauties,
This December brings the last month of the whirlwind that has been 2020, and we are choosing to go out with a bang by announcing tomorrow our last beauty awards for the year: The 2020 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards. In this beauty magazine, you can read all the winners for 2020. It is so much fun doing our makeup and beauty awards region by region. In this year's Scandinavia region, we see the hottest brands from the brassicaly cold Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The Nordics opt for a cleaner, and more eco friendly type of beauty - with product packaging often being recyclable, and the products itself often organic, non toxic and also usually non harmful to the environment. The products themselves are usually of extremely high quality and they tend to prefer a more minimalistic approach to beauty. Less is more, and the Scandinavians tend to prefer less bottles over more. Packaging, like the number of beauty products in their cabinet, is scaled black. There is more monochrome, more simplicity and yet more style. There was a myriad of entries in this years 2020 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards and we had so many notable winners. For Hair and Body brands such as Rosenserien, to Sweden Eco, Eleni & Chris and Zenz Organic to makeup brands such as IDUN Minerals and Karmameju's beautiful new BB suncreams. We were excited to welcome this year SkinChemists, Dr Botanicals and Esse to the skincare categories along side past winners such as Barr Sweden and FOREO (who have launched their incredible beauty gadgets BEAR and UFO2. Other notable winners are Icelandic luxury skincare brand Taramar - which uses algae at the forefront of their science. Primex Iceland - which uses Chitosan as its unique ingredient (sustainable prawn shells from the Atlantic Ocean). Marina Miracle showcased their incredible range, from their lash and eyebrow serum which was a winner in previous awards as well as showcasing their skincare range - we loved their sweet and creamy oil cleanser. Aiia was also a strong winner in this years awards with its high end skincare founded upon water based serums. Winners in our beauty awards receive an entry on our website, an image and text in our online magazine and a certificate. Brands can even choose to further promote their win with a perspex trophy. The 2021 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards will return September 15th 2021. With over 300 entrants it's impossible to name them all in one post, but we hope you enjoy reading our favourites in Global Makeup Magazine. Who knows what next year will have in store for us and the world. We were so impressed with all the brands ability to go with the flow all with the backdrop of a global pandemic which impacted staff working from home, warehouse organisation and postage logistics. In the face of such uncertainty, we know next year will be bigger and brighter as we saw such an impressive range of products entered. Products that can provide that much needed pick-me-up for those who have had to close themselves up at home with lockdown after lockdown enforced. To all our readers - Thank You! We are so happy so many of you tune into Global Makeup Magazine, and we wish you the happiest of Christmas Holidays and New Years. The Global Makeup Awards commences again from January 1st, launching with our biggest region for the Global Makeup Awards and then followed shortly after by Global Green Beauty Awards - which celebrates all green beauty and eco beauty award winners. Wishing you a safe December Dominique Editor of Global Makeup Magazine If you want to see confirmation of the old adage that two heads are better than one, look no further than the story of FIINI skincare products. 20 years ago two young girls made friends at High School. Their common ideology became more and more entwined as they matured and had families and homes of their own. At the root of their shared passions was a belief in all things natural ranging from handicrafts to nature and animals.
In the search for finding a skin care solution suitable for sensitive skin these two passionate women created their own skin care range. Heidi had always used natural products in the care of her animals using long passed down family recipes. Essi was searching for the perfect combination of local products for her sensitive skin and thus was born their own skincare range. The resulting oat and honey cream is one of the company’s best sellers and the forerunner of the many products they now offer. The ethos of staying close to nature as their approach to family life. Their products are biodegradable and are in harmony with their environment. The women promise honesty and naturalness. All the oils and fats used in their cosmetics are cold pressed and unpurified. All raw ingredients are natural. No industrial preservations, additives, perfumes or colourants are used. All the creams and liquids are packaged in recyclable aluminium and glass containers. Given their love of animals, animal welfare is just as important. No product testing on animals here. So let's take a look at the products this company has put forward to Global Make Up Awards in the category of .... First product we have been testing Is FIINI Oat Sea Buckthorne Oil Serum. Not just a moisturiser but also helps inflammation and reddening. The oat content stimulates the skin’s metabolism, increases elasticity and stimulates collagen production. Ingredients include beta carotene, vitamins A, C and E, plus Omegas 3, 6 and 9 which promotes skin renewal. It can also be used in lightening the appearance of liver spots. We are also testing another of their droppers, the blackcurrant face oil particularly formulated for oily and combination skin. Ingredients include Jojoba, blackcurrant seed oil and rosemary. Another of their products with blackcurrant is is their Balm to Milk Cleanser with Blackcurrant. This syrupy looking product literally changes shape and form with the addition of water and rubs into the skin with a milk consistency. Finally we are testing their 50 ml tin of shea butter. Great for the handbag or pocket when you go out on a chill day. Shea butter has been used as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries and is particularly effective for acne, cell regeneration and burns. Great for protecting your lips ain’t the cold weather and moisturising when sitting in central heating. Fiini Naturally won multiple awards in the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards - you can read all of the winner's here on our past winners page. Judges were wowed by the ethics behind the brand, the simple natural ingredients and also their dedication to sustainable packaging. In fact, did you know all of their beauty products are packaged in recyclable glass or metal jars and their cardboard boxes are made of recycled cardboard. To ensure ecological logistics further commit to sourcing their ingredients in large batches and without plastic wrapping. There is just one month left to enter the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards. This is our inaugural launch for the USA and we know it is going to be just as big as the UK Global Makeup Awards was. It made sense to expand our awards to different regions across the globe, There are so many brands out there, and for America all the more so, there are so many great MADE IN THE USA brands! So it is time to celebrate them. Beauty Awards in the USABeauty Awards are a big thing in the UK. In fact there are a tonne of them. We love to celebrate the best of the best new launches and consumers are always looking to find what is the hottest on trend beauty product on the market right now. But when you look to the USA, things have gone a bit quieter on the beauty awards and makeup awards front? There are the odd awards by magazines but not many awards that we can see which are independently judged and adjudicated by a team of beauty experts. For two countries with not only a shared language, but also a shared love of beauty products this seems to not align correctly. So we are delighted that the Global Makeup Awards has branched out and created an awards, just for America.
Products need to be available to purchase in America either by post or in shop in order to enter these awards. American beauty products are a huge thing. In fact - even Cosmo did an article for UK residents on what beauty products to buy in America if they are visiting there as not all are available to buy in the UK, making some products a bit like cult classics....especially when shopping in the famous ULTA and Sephora. I mean, some people even pack an extra suitcase when travelling to the USA just for beauty buys... oh and some Hershey's chocolate. In fact, in America, these are called the MVP Beauty Players - or in other words, the Most Valuable Player beauty brands. Did you know Glossier (it's only been around since 2014 can you believe it!?) Drunk Elephant and CoverGirl were all American beauty brands? That's right. Some more hot American beauty brands out there right now and perhaps a little lesser known in the UK are BeautyCounter's tinted moisturizer, and RMS beauty un-coverup. We've all heard of Kylie cosmetics here in the UK and we are hoping they will be entering the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards. We'd love to try their Stormi palette with its unique periwinkle shade and beautiful butterfly packaging. Let's see how it rates against the other big palette players like Urban Decay's Naked palette. The Kylie Cosmetics brand was made famous by the Kylie Lip Kit - which sold both a lippie and a pencil for $36. There is also Milk Makeup out there, which is an American brand from New York. They don't currently ship internationally which means it's time to book a flight and a suitcase if you want to get your hands on their Matcha stick cleanser. Our 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards close in just one month. That's not much time to get entries in and we can't wait to see which hot hot hot products will be entering this year. We are of course looking for the best of new launches and are so excited to see who the winners will be in this year's American beauty awards. Anywho, we will be announcing the winners for the USA Global Makeup Awards on 10th September - so keep an eye out - it's going to be one to watch if you want to keep up to date on the hottest beauty trends on the other side of the pond The Global Makeup Awards team xx Hello friends, My recent blogs showcasing some of our recent 2020 UK Global Makeup Awards winners have been pleasingly popular, I must say I love writing them! Today I would like to highlight some more wonderful companies which not only have super products deserving of beauty awards but also have such fascinating back-stories and positive contributions to our industry. BEST ANTI AGEING PRODUCT GOLD WINNER Manuka Doctor 24K Gold & Manuka Honey Face Oil Manuka Doctor was gold winner for best anti ageing product in the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards. Manuka Doctor is a company with a firm foot still in its homeland among the fresh New Zealand mountains where their expert Bee Keepers source high-quality, quality authentic Mānuka Honey. The last few years has seen demand for the honey increase dramatically as more and more people become tuned-in its well-being properties. The origins of the company go all the way back to 1909 and the Manuka Doctor strives to keep their production techniques as clean and pure now as they were in the beginning. Their philosophy is to use the best ingredients from New Zealand and the remain a rare example of a New Zealand honey company which runs its private business in a fully integrated way. We loved this product because we could see an approved appearance of our skin, reduced wrinkles and improved skin radiance. It is 2020's must have beauty product. BEST BEAUTY TOOL GOLD WINNER Mary Kay Skinvigorate Sonic Skin Care System Mary Kay Mission – Enriching the lives of women and their families around the world. That’s a great mission statement! Furthermore, Mary Kay back it up by creating excellent products which really do have a positive effect on women and their families! Founded in 1963, Mary Kay’s original offer consisted of one foundation product along with four skincare products. By the late eighties they had banned animal testing and created a recycling programme. Soon after they achieved the impressive milestone of $1Billion wholesale sales. According to Instagram Mary Kay China has just celebrated its 25 th Birthday. The company’s standpoint on equality is inspirational and I absolutely love how they promote their beauty products from a feminist standpoint as well as vocally getting behind the recent #BLM movement. This is a company run by people who know who they are and what change they want to make in the world. Mary Kay’s huge success only underpins the notion that you don’t have to abandon your values to be successful. The Skinvigorate Sonic Skin Care System provides you with a cleaner, impurity free face in just 60 seconds. It was truly deserving of a gold win in the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards. The Skinvigorate also removes 4 x more dirt, makeup and pollutants compared to just hand cleaning at home. This means you are left with super clean skin, that looks fresher and rejuvenated. It really is a must have cleanser, up there with LumiSpa and Foreo Luna 3 skincare cleansers. I’d love to tell you more about these brands but probably the best thing you can do is head over to their websites to find out more about their history, their products and their latest news. They are thoroughly deserving of their beauty awards and in this tough year so far, I definitely think any products that help us feel better and healthier are a great thing, By the way, here in Italy the weather is super-hot, just as it has been in the UK, and it is great to see
lots of German tourists have come back to Italy as soon as they could, to enjoy the food, culture and beautiful scenery. It’s a huge boost not only to the tourism sector but to everyone’s mood. Living in a ghost town started off like a novelty but it soon became quite draining! Also, thank you for all your entries in the Global Green Beauty Awards and the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards - watch out for their entry deadlines closing in mid july and 1st of August respectively. Until next time! Dan |
