Wow, winter has really hit today! Here in Northern Italy, we had blue skies and sunshine over the last week but today there is a strong icy wind! Luckily, most of us are at home as 8th December marks the Immaculate Conception so schools are closed and so are most workplaces! It's perfect for staying inside and reading or watching movies, but I can’t stand staying inside all day so after I finish this blog, me and my boys are going to put on our big coats and venture out for a little while! I’m not sure how long we’ll last though, I can hear the wind whistling through our house and the shutters banging away so it’s pretty uninviting out there! But, that's enough about the weather! What I’d really like to say is a big thank you to everyone who has joined me in these blogs over the last year. I’ve really enjoyed writing them and I especially like researching the different brands who have won at the Global Makeup Awards and getting a deeper understanding of what makes them tick! It’s wonderful to be in a business where so many of us are on the same wavelength and I love that we can do our part in helping brands small and large to get the recognition that they deserve! I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you all that the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards will be announced on 20th December, that’s only 12 days away! If you haven’t read my previous posts where I talked about past winners from the 2020 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards, I’d really love it if you took five minutes to do so. There are some really inspiring products and companies coming out of this category! 2022 is going to be a great and exciting year - on 6th January we open not just the UK global Makeup awards but also our awards for USA and ASIA. As with the Scandinavian awards, I recently blogged about past winners from the USA and ASIA awards and if you have a chance, please do take a look. I promised myself I’d move on from talking about the weather, but if it's as bad where you are as it is here then really it's a perfect day to catch up on some blogs! We’ve had a really busy year but we’ve had so much fun that it’s flown by! I’d also like to give a brief mention to the Global Green Beauty Awards, definitely my personal favourite! We had an amazing response to the awards and were so impressed at the quality of the entries as well the levels which companies are going to to help the environment! Honestly, things are progressing so quickly and the benchmark is getting pushed higher and higher! Anyway, that’s it from me for this year but I’ll be back in January with lots of exciting news, I’m looking forward to Christmas but can’t wait for 2022 too! Happy Christmas everybody Dan

BEAUTY AWARDS DATES FOR 2022I can't believe it is only just September, and here we are announcing the dates for 2022! We are delighted to share the dates for our Global Makeup Awards and Global Green Beauty Awards for 2022. We are rolling together the entry dates for the USA, ASIA and UK for 2022 at the beginning of the year. It will then be followed by the 2022 Global Green Beauty Awards. Then, to end the year in September, we will be opening Scandinavia 2022 Global Makeup Awards. There's quite a few for your diary! As always, we look forward to seeing the latest in beauty innovation from new and exciting brands. It doesn't have to be makeup - we have categories for hair care, skincare, bodycare, fragrances and more. To enter a regional award - you need to sell your beauty products in that country. You do not have to have a shop or be in a retailer, however, you have to be able to purchase that product in the specified country, even if only by shipping. In the last few blogs I have really enjoyed getting deeper into the stories behind some of our previous winners from the last USA Global Makeup Awards and Asia Global Makeup Awards. It’s so fascinating to discover the back stories behind the companies which were judged winners on the basis of their products. I don’t think it can be a coincidence that brands who really have an amazing backstory and clear raison d’etre end up creating award-winning products. So often, I read about someone who, unable to find a suitable skin product either for themselves or a loved one, takes the step of creating their own solution and starting a business that aligns with their own personal values and ethics. These guys are the leading B2B trade show in the Americas and the event will be a fantastic opportunity for meeting other like-minded folk as well as potentially striking up new partnerships and making new friends! The 2019 event attracted more than 40,000 attendees as well as 1,435 exhibitors from 43 different countries. This is a truly exciting event which gives us the chance to see brand new products and the latest industry innovations while discovering new possibilities for distribution, packaging and manufacture. In other news, I’d like to remind you that the 2021 Global Green Beauty Awards will be announced on the 15th July - including with an online magazine. Last year’s awards were so exciting and we cannot wait to do it all again. Green Beauty is really close to our hearts and there is so much important work being done out there that it really has to be recognised! So in the last two blogs we took a closer look at the recent winners from Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand from the ! In today’s blog I want to focus on winners from the last American Beauty Awards! The USA 2021 Global Makeup Awards are now open, the deadline for entries is the 1st August so don’t delay if you would like to get involved! These awards are perfect for brands based in the USA and Canada. As always, we are looking for exciting new beauty, skincare, haircare and cosmetics launches. Though you don't have to be based in America to enter, we do require that the cosmetics are available to purchase in the USA or Canada. One of last year's exciting winners in the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards was Dr. Bronner. Who won the gold beauty award of: BEST BODY PRODUCT GOLD WINNER - Dr Bronner Peppermint Organic Hand Hygiene Spray As you probably know by now, I love getting to know as much as I can about every brand’s back story and their values. Delving into their history and mission statements isn’t usually very hard but it feels like Dr Bronner designed their website especially for me. It is Wonderful and goes into great detail about the brand’s roots, what it stands for and what is aiming for! Before reading further, you must check out their website’s About section and their Six Cosmic Principles. I will paraphrase some info here but I could never do them justice so I’d really love for you to see for yourselves. Their passion is infectious! The Six Cosmic Principles are: Work hard and Grow! Do right by customers Treat staff like family Be fair to suppliers Treat the earth like home Fund & Fight for what’s right Each point is elaborated on, I urge you to take a look if you still haven’t! They also have a fascinating history which dates back 150 years and five generations as well as a touching tribute to Uncle Ralph, a fantastic character and integral part of the story who would visit town’s with his guitar and drum up a crowd while promoting Dr Bronner products. The whole company philosophy is incredibly inspiring and shows the good a business can do in the community if it has the right priorities. Their organic peppermint hand sanitiser spray itself is a delicious fast, drying alcohol spray for the hands. It is a handy pocket size and has a minty fragrance... not too dissimilar from toothpaste! Another winner in the USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards was Kanddit beauty who took GOLD for BEST BEAUTY TOOL WINNER with their Slant tweezers. Their website is currently under renovation and we can’t wait to see the new site as soon as it is published! However, you can purchase them from Amazon and their slanted tweezers are high performing, even against the smallest hairs. Another USA brand which performed well was No Mo-Stache who took Gold for BEST HAIR REMOVAL PRODUCT. Founded in 2015 by Gita Vasseghi after she had decided to create a product which could be used to remove hair while out and about. After creating the first ever portable hair removal kit she has appeared on USA TV network TV and No Mo-Stache products can now be found in over 10,000 worldwide locations. We absolutely love your work! Ciao Dani  USA Global Makeup Awards 2020 - entries close in one month There is just one month left to enter the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards. This is our inaugural launch for the USA and we know it is going to be just as big as the UK Global Makeup Awards was. It made sense to expand our awards to different regions across the globe, There are so many brands out there, and for America all the more so, there are so many great MADE IN THE USA brands! So it is time to celebrate them. Beauty Awards in the USABeauty Awards are a big thing in the UK. In fact there are a tonne of them. We love to celebrate the best of the best new launches and consumers are always looking to find what is the hottest on trend beauty product on the market right now. But when you look to the USA, things have gone a bit quieter on the beauty awards and makeup awards front? There are the odd awards by magazines but not many awards that we can see which are independently judged and adjudicated by a team of beauty experts. For two countries with not only a shared language, but also a shared love of beauty products this seems to not align correctly. So we are delighted that the Global Makeup Awards has branched out and created an awards, just for America.
Products need to be available to purchase in America either by post or in shop in order to enter these awards. American beauty products are a huge thing. In fact - even Cosmo did an article for UK residents on what beauty products to buy in America if they are visiting there as not all are available to buy in the UK, making some products a bit like cult classics....especially when shopping in the famous ULTA and Sephora. I mean, some people even pack an extra suitcase when travelling to the USA just for beauty buys... oh and some Hershey's chocolate. In fact, in America, these are called the MVP Beauty Players - or in other words, the Most Valuable Player beauty brands. Did you know Glossier (it's only been around since 2014 can you believe it!?) Drunk Elephant and CoverGirl were all American beauty brands? That's right. Some more hot American beauty brands out there right now and perhaps a little lesser known in the UK are BeautyCounter's tinted moisturizer, and RMS beauty un-coverup. We've all heard of Kylie cosmetics here in the UK and we are hoping they will be entering the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards. We'd love to try their Stormi palette with its unique periwinkle shade and beautiful butterfly packaging. Let's see how it rates against the other big palette players like Urban Decay's Naked palette. The Kylie Cosmetics brand was made famous by the Kylie Lip Kit - which sold both a lippie and a pencil for $36. There is also Milk Makeup out there, which is an American brand from New York. They don't currently ship internationally which means it's time to book a flight and a suitcase if you want to get your hands on their Matcha stick cleanser. Our 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards close in just one month. That's not much time to get entries in and we can't wait to see which hot hot hot products will be entering this year. We are of course looking for the best of new launches and are so excited to see who the winners will be in this year's American beauty awards. We are so excited to make this awards truly global as through opening in the USA, the beauty hub of the world, we will be sure to see huge innovation in the beauty and cosmetics industry. The global makeup awards looks at new launches - so we are looking for beauty entries which have been launched after January 2018 and and are available to purchase in the USA. The global makeup awards is currently open in three regions - the UK, Scandinavia, and now also the USA. Winners receive a paper certificate, a mention in our online magazine Global Makeup Magazine and a link on our website. It costs £100 to enter the awards with one product and we require 6 product samples. Products are judged on their efficacy by the judges, so as long as the product is a game changing, great product, you have a chance of winning an award! You've got to be in it to win it though. And to win what we call a 'beauty oscar' - just click on the enter award page here. Categories are for makeup, skincare, haircare, bodycare and brand categories. We are looking at a wide range of beauty innovations so there is a category for everyone within the beauty industry.
