Hi everybody,
How are you all? Has spring arrived for you? I don’t want to boast but it's lovely here (Lake Garda, Italy!) I look forward to spring so much and it really makes me happy when the weather gets warmer, the daffs appear and the blossom starts making its presence known! My neighbours are worried about the lack of rain in recent months and they say that we’ll probably pay for that with a wet summer but I’m feeling positive! It’s been a little while since my last post so I’m excited to bring you lots of big Global Makeup Awards news. First of all, I should let you know that entries have now closed at the 2022 Global Makeup Awards for the regions of the UK, USA and ASIA. We've seen a record number of brands enter, it’s so exciting to be working with familiar brands as well as new ones so that’s kept us busy over the winter! I have to say that there are really strong entries across the board - this year is going to be really tricky for the judges There are a lot of great benefits to winning these awards though, not only does it increase credibility and provide great recognition of your hard work but in addition there is exposure in our e-magazine, a beautifully printed certificate and an online winners logo that really catches the eye! It's exciting to see how the awards are now really global - we have our newest regions Asia and USA which are growing each year. Asia is now in its 2nd year and USA regions are now in their 3rd year. It's great to see our beauty awards expands through the different regions throughout the world. Last year was a huge year where I blogged about lots of different great winners - as you probably noticed, I love digging into the stories behind the brands. I want to know why they exist, who are the human’s behind the brands and what their motivations for starting their own business are. It quickly becomes apparent that financial reasons are not behind the companies’ formation but a genuine passion for quality beauty products and a huge sense of reward in helping others. It’s probably also apparent that I do have a strong sense of gratitude to the brands which work tirelessly to make their products ethically and I really appreciate the lengths they go to to use natural ingredients, avoid animal-testing and support local economies. The Scandinavian brands have really been forerunners when it comes to ethical-business practice but I’m delighted to see their techniques being replicated all over the world. You guys are all really making a difference and I think our industry is now one of the best there is and a model for other industries to follow. We’ve seen really dramatic changes to practices and expectations over the last decades! Anyway! I have a few more blogs planned over the coming weeks so I’ll be back very soon with more big news as well as some spotlights on some of my favourite recent winning brands! As ever, ciao for now! Dan

Wow. It's been an exhilarating start to the year with our UK Beauty Awards. As part of a Global beauty awards group, we work through the year providing the following 5 awards:
UK Global Makeup Awards (our local beauty awards for new trends.) ASIA Global Makeup Awards (perfect for the Asian beauty award market, and also includes New Zealand and Australia beauty awards.) USA Global Makeup Awards (for the American Beauty Award market - a very interesting concept as USA Beauty Awards is not such a recognised concept compared to the other geographical markets - especially the UK where Beauty Awards are huge!) Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards and last but not least, the Global Green Beauty Awards (our biggest green and clean beauty awards which opens from mid March.) The 2021 UK Global Makeup Awards is drawing to a close with entries closing in two weeks, on 15th March 2021. Immediately after, the 2021 Global Green Beauty Awards open. It has been exhilarating for the UK market, as after the success of last year, which was our biggest year to date, who knew what the future would hold for 2021 which sees the UK reeling from the effects of its biggest recesion to date due to the coronavirus outbreak. The beauty industry was particularly hard hit, as the high street was closed, and with many people who had lost their jobs, there was less to spend on high end beauty items. On the other hand, self-care has never been so important - and home hair kits and home spa products have seen a rise. Our beauty predictions for 2021 from what we've seen so far is a leap towards more affordable and more eco beauty goods that you can use at home. Unfortunately, we've also seen a lot of famous beauty houses collapse. Victoria Beckham Beauty has closed its London store. Other colour cosmetics brands have taken a hit, as with social venues and work places being closed people just don't need it. Overwhelmingly, we have seen an increased demand for skincare haircare, wellness and of course sanitization. We have seen many beauty brands bring out hand sanitisers and hand creams and soaps in a reaction against the COVID19 pandemic. In fact at the start of the pandemic, you couldn't find hand soap or hand sanitiser for love nor money in any supermarket or pharmacy. OUr UK 2021 Global Makeup Awards responded to this with the following new categories: Best New Health and Wellness Product Best New Hand Cream Best Soap Bar Best Liquid Soap Best Hand Sanitiser After a year of meticulously washing and scrubbing our hands - we are all desperate for new finds in these categories which look after our hands and care for them. All of your beauty predictions with be proven (or otherwise!) in our winners list in April's Global Makeup Magazine. There are still two weeks left to enter our UK beauty awards, and if you have an ASIAN beauty brand you can enter our Asia beauty Awards the 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards until April. Well it’s not too late to add another to list, something a little more special and exciting than joining the gym or reducing time wasted on your phone! How about winning an award for your make-up company? That would be a highlight you could really look back on when you’re reviewing your achievements as we approach next Christmas (I know, I know, sorry! Too soon!). It’s true though, as not only would the glory of winning an award be a wonderful feeling of recognition, the additional social media marketing and exposure would further propel your product into the orbit of discerning consumers. Furthermore, a shiny trophy adorning your offices makes a great talking point and an inspiration to continue your great work! Here at the UK Global Makeup Awards we had a fantastic 2019. Our job really is great; we have the privilege of trying, testing and reviewing the best products on the market and discovering all the newest products and companies. Last year we were hugely impressed with all the companies who entered the awards, but we feel that in 2020 the standards are going to be even higher! So, we are excited to announce that the 2020 Global Makeup Awards are now OPEN! YAY! Don’t hesitate! Apply now to stand a chance of being a winner. A winner’s award is a great sign for customers who have a difficult choice to make when facing which products to spend their hard-earned money on. Choosing which make-up product to buy when there seems to be an ocean of choice can be an overwhelming experience. Thankfully, a trusted award goes a long way and can make all the difference to sales. As for the companies themselves, they benefit from wide-exposure and recognition from within the industry. Finding material to use for social media marketing can often be difficult and time- consuming. Winning an award, however, provides a wealth of material which can be used over the course of a year. Photos of the trophy, photos of staff with the trophy etc. and naturally there are the shares and retweets. All brands are welcome to participate. Both large and small companies have reaped great rewards from getting involved while consumers appreciate the low-down on all the latest beauty trends. Products are reviewed by a panel of judges on their efficacy, value and quality. The judging process is extremely intense, and your products will be thoroughly analysed and reviewed. That’s not to say its an entirely unpleasant experience for our experienced judges, they love their work, but they do have the highest of standards and expectations. So, if one of your goals this year is to win an award for your work, go ahead and get involved with our awards. Nothing will round off the year better than the whole team being able to share in a prestigious win, a definite marker to further build upon. Global Makeup Awards looks at Lush's new flagship Liverpool storeBath bomb beauty bananza Lush has opened its biggest doors yet. After last year's marketing scandal of their 'anti spy cops campaign' the brand has recovered well. They have looked at revolutionising beauty spaces to create a whole experience when entering their new flagship store.
Lush have just opened their flagship store in Liverpool. It is truly huge at a massive 1380sq metres, not only is it on three floors (one of which is entirely dedicated to its own in-house spa) but it is also manned by 167 staff members. Playing to their strengths, which is environment first, this is even replicated in their coffee bar. With plant based milks only, Lush is hot on the veganism trend as their coffee and their beauty products are of course against cruelty to animals. Their coffee is 100% vegan and their cafe is also against single use plastic. Furthermore, all their products are completely sourced in the UK to cut down their carbon footprint - so be sure to bring along your reusable flask the next time you pop to Liverpool! Their flagship Lush store also comes complete with its own hair salon 'Lush HairLab'. This is their first hair salon and comes stocked with 50 unique hair products from Lush. Moving away from the toxicity of hair dye - this lush salon offers Henna alternatives as well as of course hair cuts, treatments and blowouts. Who knows, maybe lush will enter one of their new makeup, beauty or haircare products in the Global Makeup Awards this year as we look at all the latest products launches from the last year from the beauty industry. Our beauty and makeup awards would be delighted to have a to luxury beauty brand apply and nominate their products ready for review by our team of professional judges for review. Physically, the open plan store is stunning - with products laid out in a way that you will want to snap it for your instagram, but also because of the floral arrangements throughout the store. In fact, it even houses its own in house florists so you can buy some plants to take home with you. Just like the coffee, all the plants are sourced from the UK. Offering seasonal bouquets, it makes for a unique purchase at the new Lush store. Lastly, with a whole floors dedicated to a spa this is something to definitely enjoy. It is the 8th of Lush's Spas, but this one is even designed to host parties! Or else, book your self in for a relaxing massage to take the edge off shopping. |
