UK 2023 Global Makeup Awards open 6th JanuaryHi everybody and Happy New Year to you all!
I’m back in Italy now but I had a really great Christmas in the UK and it was so good to see my family and also pop in and visit the rest of the Global Makeup Awards team. We ate, we laughed and we just enjoyed spending time together. It didn’t matter that the weather was foul or that we all seemed to pick up the flu, it was still a wonderful week! Anyway, before Christmas we announced the Scandinavia Global Makeup Award Winners from the 2022 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards and I gave a quick lowdown on a few of the brands who took gold. Today, I’m going to do the same. I’ll save in-depth blogs for another day but right now we’ll just take a flying look at who won in some makeup categories and in a few cases check out some interesting stories behind their products. First of all, the gold winner for Best Primer went to INIKA Organic for their marvellous Radiant Glow Veil. This brand was originally founded in Australia in 2006 and has gone on to huge global success, including major features in Vogue and Grazia. It comes as no surprise that they have been so warmly embraced in Scandinavia since they clearly share a lot of similar values regarding clean, toxin-free ingredients, sustainable business ethos and cruelty-free certifications. In fact, their current mission is to achieve pure plastic neutrality; hopefully this inventiveness and positive mindset will catch on! Let’s look now at the gold winner for Best Foundation which was Lavinde Copenhagen and their NATURAL GLOW Liquid Foundation Cool Ivory 201 30 ml. This Danish brand was founded with the purpose of creating hypoallergenic skincare products and cosmetics free from parabens and perfumes. They especially enjoy creating products for pregnant women or breast-feeding mothers as well as anyone who wants to take good care of their body and avoid toxins. Best Eye Product was a particularly competitive category but Purodoré Natural Skincare managed to take the gold with their Ceramide & Gold Firming Eye Cream. This independent, family-owned Finnish brand aims to create products which are both luxurious and sustainable. I’m quickly running out of space so I’ll just list a few other gold winners below! Best Eyebrow Product Alba Beauty Golden Bombshell Eyebrow Gel, Best Eye Shadow Alba Beauty mr mermaid Mineral EyeShadow, Best Bronzer / Illuminator Ecotan Coral Bronzer Best Mascara Alba Beauty Just Browsing False Lash Mascara, Best Lip Balm Marina Miracle One & Only Lip Balm Best Lip Product Eco by Sonya Driver Lipstick Miami Rose In my next blog I will focus more on some of the haircare winners from the Scandinavia Global Makeup Award Winners. In the meantime, thanks for joining me for a little look at some of the makeup winners, I’m looking forward to going into a bit more depth over the coming months! Until then, have a great day and a wonderful 2023! Ciao for now Dan

I love all things Scandinavia - S beauty, the countries , the expos the Hygge!Hi everyone,
How are you enjoying the recent transition of the seasons! As I write this on Sunday morning I’m thinking about going out for a hike in the mountains later. I love the clean air, being in the middle of nature, and the view from the top of the mountain. One side looks out across the lake and today the air is very clear so we should be able to see for miles. The other side looks out across untouched forest, a completely different world. But first, I have some important information!!! Entries close for the Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards on Monday 7th November so you don’t have much time to get your entries in. I really love Scandinavia and I also really love their beauty brands. Actually, I think I love the countries and the brands for the same reasons I love walking in the mountains. The appreciation of nature, the clean air, the connection to the planet. I’m always impressed at how Scandinavian brands seem to be ahead of the game when it comes to green beauty and business responsibility so these awards are fantastic to be a part of. The standards of all the brands are so high, I honestly feel that Scandinavia is right at the forefront of beauty innovation and an example of how brands should be run. Last year’s awards were so exciting to be a part of. We celebrated success with some of the area’s top brands including Dr.Ankerstjerne, White Lotus, Glam of Sweden, Rosenserien, Henrik Vibskov, Haan, Humderkin as well as many others. Just writing about last year’s events is making me excited about my next Trip to Finland in May. Last time I went I was amazed by the hospitality of the locals and the beauty of the area. I enjoyed authentic sauna’s, camping in the forest, great food and some of the cleanest air you can breathe. If you haven’t visited yet, I can’t recommend it enough. Actually, there are also some excellent Beauty expos coming up, beginning in Sweden with Eco Life Scandinavia Malmö 16. - 17. November 2022 | The leading sustainable living trade fair in Scandinavia. This event is specifically for vegan and free-from products, an area which many of last year’s winners have a great deal of expertise in. Then, in March 2023 there is the Hair and Beauty Finland Expo (18.-19.03.2022) which will take place in Helsinki. Those are just some ideas for those of you who may be interested in a trip to the homelands of some of the best beauty products on the market. More pressingly though, is the deadline for the 2022 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards which is tomorrow! So if your brand is based in Scandinavia or connected to the area don’t hesitate to get involved so that all your hard work can be recognised. I’ll sign off here and start making some sandwiches for my hike but I’ll be back again very soon! Ciao for now Dan NIOD, Swati Cosmetics and Mantle - some winners from the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards2/3/2022 Gold Winners from the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards - NIOD, Swati Cosmetics and MantleHi,
I enjoyed writing the last blog so much that I started this one right after finishing it. Today we’ll look a bit more at brands which were successful at the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards. As you may have guessed from the last blog, I really enjoy learning about the stories behind the brands and understanding what motivated them to start their own business, no mean feat, and try to enter an already crowded and competitive market! The three companies I’m looking at today all have their own unique stories to share and learning about them really helps me to understand the passion and the people behind the products that we use every day! So, with that said, I bet you can’t wait to see what these stories are so I won’t waste any more time! GOLD WINNER for BEST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT was NIOD for their Copper Amino Isolate Serum 3 1:1 NIOD (Non-Invasive Options in Dermal Science) say that they have one goal “to be at the very edge of science). Founder, Brandon Truaxe” also states that the company is not influenced by trends but strives to always be at the forefront of new discoveries and technologies, with a commitment to a client base that are inspired by quality and innovation rather than marketing or price. NIOD is part of the Deciem Brand which has a partnership with The Estee Laude Companies. Brandon posted a very interesting open letter detailing the background of the partnership, a real insight into how important the company’s values are to him (and co-founder Nicola Kilner). Let’s now take a look at the EDITORS CHOICE GOLD WINNER which was Mantle with their fantastic Dream Mask. Co-founder Josefin Landgård was experiencing a difficult time during her personal and professional life before starting Mantle. Suffering from a lack of sleep and an extended period of stress as well as looking after her family, it must have been a really tough period for her until she discovered the health and skin benefits of CBD and met her co-founder Stina Lönnkvist. This really turned things around for her and Mantel are now a well recognised and respected company and were favourites of our judges who eagerly chose them as their Editors Choice winners! Finally, we have Swati Cosmetics who were the BEST VEGAN BEAUTY BRAND GOLD WINNERS. Swati proudly share the beautiful story of how two people falling in love led to the creation of this excellent brand! Swedish entrepreneur Vishal Nanda met Indian Make-Up artist Swati Verma and they quickly fell for each other! Vishal was mesmerised by how she managed to change her look until learning that the secret was her coloured contact lenses. This lightbulb moment and dream team partnership resulted in the launch of Swati Cosmetics in February 2019, a new beauty brand which celebrates diversity, inclusivity and fun! Well, I think you’ll agree that those are three really unique stories behind the winning brands. It’s really great to know just how much creating the best possible products means to the people working on them and it's wonderful that we get to appreciate and recognise their effort with the Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards. Thanks for joining me on this little trip, I’ll be back very soon but until then… Ciao for now! Dan Winners showcase for the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards

Peace and love Dom The 2019 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards will be announced on 10th December!
December is an exciting month, we’re all looking forward to Christmas, presents, delicious food and seeing our families and friends. What else could we possibly want? Well, for those who work in the make-up industry, an award to acknowledge all the passion, effort and creativity they have put in to driving forward their products would be a nice cherry on the top after a hard year! Additionally, for millions of customers around the world, a stamp of approval on a product which confirms its quality and value is a very useful tool when faced with a myriad of options! In a world where it can be hard to know which the best option is, an award from a trusted source makes things just a little but easier. Judges at The Global Makeup Awards have decades of experience in the industry and know everything there is to know about what makes a great product! It’s also been a busy twelve months for us, and we are also looking forward to finishing the year with a bang! 2019 has brought a record number of entries, and we can safely say that the bar continues to rise. The competition has been strong, and it warms our hearts to see the advances made in the industry. Makeup products are continuously developing, improving and adapting in an ever-changing industry. This can’t happen without a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes. As we near the holiday period and a well-earned chance to relax and re-charge it is time to assess the year’s achievements and to recognise the passion and exertion that has been involved in creating amazing new products that satisfy the highest of expectations in a fast-paced world. Picking the winners has been a difficult task and our six judges have meticulously analysed every product entered into the competition, ensuring that every entry has been scrutinised and tested. They have had the pleasure of testing a wide range of quality makeup products from a number of brands but then been faced with the arduous task of scoring and ranking the products. Now, the time is here to announce the results, and, on the 10th December, we will name the winners of the Gold and Silver awards. A massive thank you to all the companies who entered, and to our six esteemed judges who approached their roles with enthusiasm, professionalism and diligence. We’re starting the festive season on a high, who will be a winner this year? Not only does a win reward the company and employees with recognition of their efforts but they will receive added promotion and exciting content on social media and improve their SEO. The Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards certificate looks great in the office and the logo makes an eye-catching and attractive addition to your website and promotional material. As a wise woman once sang – “All I Want for Christmas is a Scandinavian Global Makeup Award”, who will be crowned winner this year? The Global Makeup Awards: Scandinavia |
