The 2022 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards have opened for entries!Hello Everyone!
So sorry it's been a while. It's Dominique the Editor of the Global Makeup Awards here. Don't worry - Danny will soon be back to giving you his reviews of some of the amazing entries we had in the 2022 Global Green Beauty Awards. I just wanted to pop on here for our followers to wish you a happy Autumn. After a month off (after a very busy year with the Global Green Beauty Awards and our Global Makeup Awards for the Uk, ASIA and USA, I'm delighted to be back at the computer to bring to you our last awards of the year - our 2022 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards. The 2022 Scandinavia Awards are held in Autumn / Winter for our Scandi friends, as they symbolise all things Hygge - crunchy leaves, the wild, fresh air, pure and natural ingredients, cozy firesides. The awards for this region are now in their fourth year and it's been so great growing over the years and watching to see how the Scandi brands have been changing and adapting and also their response with COVID in 2020 and 2021. Self care and looking after ones inner wellbeing has always been central to Scandinavian way of life. The winters are long and hard, and sometimes, to pull you through the long winter, you do just need a little bit of self care, a nice long bath, a skin care regime then some cozy pyjamas in a warm living room - maybe with a favourite book....or who are we kidding a bit of celebrity junk TV! So - to all our Nordic friends - please be aware of the short entry dates this year - it is all being squeezed in so you can celebrate your win by Christmas. Dates are here. For everyone else waiting on the UK, ASIA and USA GMA awards, as well as our 2023 Global Green Beauty Awards - these dates will be announced in December. Wishing you a lovely Autumn and I hope you get to have a bit of a slower pace now the year is winding to an end. Hugs Dom xx

Sweden Eco, Marina Miracle, Esse Skincare - Scandi Skincare heavyweights Hi again everybody!
In my last blog I took a deeper look into the stories behind some of the winning brands at the 2021 USA Global Makeup Awards. It’s really interesting how different companies have their own different approaches to their companies and their products. Speaking of which, Scandinavian companies often seem to share similar values and approaches and the 2021 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards are now open for entries. These will be our last awards of 2021 and we are always very excited about them as Scandinavia is a heavyweight in the beauty world with its multifunctional products which usually have very trendy packaging and favour a minimalistic design. They also tend to use high quality, locally sourced natural ingredients. October 1st 2021 - Awards open for entries November 25th 2021 - Awards entries close December 20th 2021 - Winners Announced Online Let’s now take a closer look at some of the winners from last year’s 2020 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards We’ll begin with the BEST CLEANSER GOLD WINNER which was Marina Miracle with their Flower Berry Essence Sweet & Creamy Oil Cleanser Marina Miracle was founded by Marina Elisabeth Engervik who had first-hand experience of skin problems and the challenge of finding suitable treatments as she was born with atopic eczema and it was so bad that aged just 4 she ended up in hospital. As she grew up she continued to struggle with acne, sensitive and irritated skin but was unable to find any treatments that would keep her skin healthily balanced! Determined to find a solution that would work for her and others she committed to research and scientific studies until she was ready to make her own formulas. Initially, the new products worked wonders on her own skin and then for friends and family. Soon word got round and a wonderful new business was born! Now let’s look at Esse Skincare who were our BEST ANTI AGEING PRODUCT GOLD WINNER with their Resurrect Serum. Their founder, Trevor Steyn comes from a scientific background, having studied organic chemistry which then led to a particular interest in Africa’s plants and their potential for skin care. He began his research into Kigelia africana, the African Sausage tree, spending two years formulating his products in preparation for launching Esse two years later. HIs goal for the company is to play a role in “creating a beautiful, indefinitely sustainable future,” Finally, we have BEST BATH / SHOWER PRODUCT GOLD WINNER - Sweden Eco with their Shampoo for hair and body Sweden Eco by Rosenserien is sold across 150 Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Serbia. The brand was founded 40 years ago when founder, Laine Nilsson, became aware that the products she was using in her job at a hairdressing salon were negatively affecting her skin. Once she identified the cause of the irritation, she began to examine the ingredients of the products and soon identified her mission as to provide clean and toxin-free skincare to people. Her daughter,Carina Swartz now runs the company! So there we have three wonderful Scandinavian brands who were successful at least year’s Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards. Thanks for joining me for a closer look at their stories, I’ll be back soon! Ciao for now! Dan Hi Everyone,
It's Dominique, the editor for the Global Makeup Awards. Now in our fourth year, it was exciting to expand the regions for the Global Makeup Awards yet again. After four successful years for UK, Scandinavia and USA, we had many requests for ASIA and Australia and New Zealand to expand our beauty awards to those regions. So, in 2021 the ASIA 2021 Global Makeup Awards was born. This is for all ASIAN markets as well as Australia and New Zealand. Just like our other regional Global Makeup Awards, this awards celebrates the best of the best of new launches in those markets. We have seen a huge amount of entries for this year's new beauty awards for ASIA, seeing entries from Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia. It has really been an incredible year for entries, for this new geographical market. Furthermore, this is made all the more impressive given the Global crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, mixed into this, the difficulties that Brexit has produced. We are delighted to have seen so many new brands enter from those regions and will be delighted to announce the winners in a dedicated magazine on the 20th May. These ASIAN beauty awards are so important as it gives a chance for brands to celebrate their worth within the beauty industry compared to other brands in a similar geographical location. The awards are judged by our panel of 6 beauty specialists and as always, the best products win - ie those with real results where efficacy is key. There have been some huge players entering this year's awards - but we don't want to spoil the surprise yet! In May, all the answers will be revealed and you can learn the best of not just K-Beauty, but so much more! If you are an Asian or Australian beauty brand looking to nominate your beauty products in this year's awards there is still time to enter. Entries close for our 2021 ASIAN beauty awards on the 15th April, so there's still over a week left! Remember, to enter the product must be newly launched (after January 2018) as we are looking for the hottest new ASIAN beauty trends. We have a number of beauty categories which you can see here. To all those who have already entered, we wish you the best of luck! All winners will receive an entry in our online beauty magazine which showcases the ASIAN Global Makeup Award Winners, a listing on our website with a backlink, and gold winners will receive an image too. You can also request a printed certificate. We look forward to seeing any last minute entries, and wish you the best of luck in the 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards. So we’ve all heard of K-Beauty which has become over the years an umbrella term for skin-care products that are derived from South Korea. However, a newer term in the world of beauty is S-Beauty - which stands for Scandinavian Beauty or Scandi-Beauty. Whereas K-beauty became famous in Europe as we were intrigued by their 10 step skincare regime - S Beauty is quite the opposite - looking at more minimalist products that have a higher efficacy.
In this year’s 2020 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards, we thought it would be interesting to delve deeper into the intricacies of S-Beauty. At its core, S-Beauty is about an all natural beauty look, often using natural products. When it comes to makeup, S-beauty favours a more subtle look using natural and earthy colours that enhance your own natural beauty. Packaging is minimalist, futuristic and bang on trend, much like their renown Scandi decor. Self care while going through lockdown 2.0 is what is really important right now, and Scandinavians known how to hunker down and enjoy time indoor in the warm and cosy while it’s cold outside. In fact, Scandinavian winters are known for being sub-zero, and that can take a toll on the delicate skin on your face. S-Beauty with regards to skincare really looks at protecting your skin from the harshness of external factors like weather and pollutants while keeping it moisturised and nourished. An intensive serum is an absolute must for providing your skin with the protection it requires. What are the other traits of S-Beauty? Minimalism goes a long way, and you won’t find a Scandinavians bathroom counter filled with thousands of lotions and potions. Quality and functionality are paramount. Less products which DO more. You’ll also notice more moisturisers with SPF, and also even up to 50SPF as they take protection against sun damage very seriously. Scandi’s aren’t known like brits for being abroad and sporting a bright lobster pink sunburn. So who are the big names in Scandi Beauty right now? Perhaps the most well known in S-Beauty in the makeup world is Kkaer Weis, famous for high-performing, luxury makeup that is both certified organic and sustainable. In skincare, there is a myriad of names, as Scandinavians take their skincare routine very seriously. Despite being known as a nation of minimalism, they don’t skimp on the steps in skincare routine. Big name players are Rosenserien, FOREO, Eleni & Chris, Barr Sweden, Skogen Cosmetics, Primex Iceland and Mette Picaut, just to name a few. S-Beauty goes further than just the products that you put on your skin and the earthy tones of the makeup you choose. It is a way of life. Balance is central to all things Scandinavian, which is part of their appreciate of ‘Hygge’. You need to balance the modern world with nature, and balance also your own like. A balanced and colourful diet is very important to them as well as finding time for themselves, and of course time to exercise. It is all tied in together - makeup, diet, exercise, inner wellbeing, in helping them to feel like the best versions of themselves. With all the uncertainties right now with the coronavirus pandemic, we could all do with taking a leaf out of the Scandinavians book, and look at enjoying the smaller things in life and taking a more balanced approach. The next time you make a beauty purchase, why not try S-Beauty, and look for better ingredients, a more natural approach and see if it is an all rounder that can do more. |
