Global makeup awards and global green beauty awards makeup news flash, blog for the global makeup awards and global green beauty awards, news, cosmetics news, blog
Hi everyone,
In the past couple of blogs we’ve looked in a bit more detail at some of last year’s winners at the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards. Today, I’m going to focus on some of the winners in brand categories, as opposed to product categories. These look at the brand as a whole and are among the most prestigious of our awards. The first winner we’re going to look at is Rosenserien who walked away as BEST ORGANIC BEAUTY BRAND GOLD WINNER. Rosenserien was founded around 40 years ago when co-founder Laine Nilsson, who at the time was working as a hairdresser, realised that some of the chemicals and ingredients in the products she was using were having a negative effect on her skin. After conducting a great deal of research around natural alternatives, and collaborating with local chemists, in 1984 the first products went on the market. Today, Laine’s daughter Carina Swartz is in charge of the brand, continuing her mother’s mission and leading Rosenerien to a series of awards including as one of Sweden's ”Super Companies” 2010 and 2011. Next we have BEST SCANDINAVIAN BEAUTY BRAND GOLD WINNER - Zenz Organic. This Danish company takes great pride in their expertise as professional hairdressers and believe this makes them the ideal people to create products for other professional hairdressers. The team are passionate about creating natural and healthy products. They also have an impressive desire to work in a sustainable way and incorporate this into their everyday strategies. Their philosophy is to be at the forefront of sustainable beauty and to always be part of the solution and never the problem! Inspirational! Another big success in the BEST SCANDINAVIAN BEAUTY BRAND category was Fiini Naturally. This wonderful Finnish company is the result of a beautiful friendship that began 20 years ago while the co-founders Heidi and Essi were still in high school. The two definitely have some kind of strong connection; their lives followed similar patterns and shared similar interests and passions. Something else they both share is that they have sensitive skin and had trouble finding skincare products that worked for them. Living in Finland, which is full of wildlife and has some of the cleanest air in the world, they were in the right place to combine their passion for nature and clean beauty to create a fantastic brand which is kind to sensitive skin and environmentally-friendly. They proudly use Finnish raw ingredients as much as possible, take special care that their packaging is also ecologically responsible and prefer to test new products on their own skin before bringing them to the market, absolutely no animal testing is involved! Well, that brings me to the end of another blog. Once again I’ve really enjoyed delving into the stories behind the brands, always so interesting and inspiring! I’ll be back very soon with a new blog which will focus on the classic brands which successfully-entered and won in the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards. Ciao for now! Dan

Here Are Some of the Best Ingredients for Acne-Prone Skin
If your acne's got you feeling down in the dumps, don't worry — you're not alone. Acne afflicts over 50 million Americans at any given time. Presenting in both teenagers and adults, it can be caused by everything from stress to genetics. Most importantly, acne is normal and nothing to be ashamed of. However, in some cases, it can be painful and may require intensive medication. If you're looking for ways to treat your acne, you may be wondering what kind of products you need. Some ingredients are specially formulated to treat acne gently and effectively and we quickly run through them below. AHAs and BHAs Alpha and beta hydroxy acids are the anti-acne dream team. These gentle chemical exfoliants can be found in everything from cleansers and toners to moisturizers and even masks. The most common AHA, glycolic acid, even buffs away cells on the surface to reveal newer and healthier-looking skin underneath. Salicylic acid is the most common BHA and is a key ingredient in nearly every skincare routine for acne. It reaches deep into the skin to clean pores and control sebum production. When combined with moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides, it works to prevent future breakouts. Retinol This anti-acne superstar is a form of Vitamin A that, like BHAs, deep-cleans your skin to remove dirt, dead skin cells, and excess oil. At the same time, it actively promotes skin cell renewal. As a result, it's also a potent anti-aging ingredient. Though it comes in more concentrated forms, it can also be integrated into a natural skincare routine. Take Graydon Skincare's Fullmoon Serum for example, which is our Best Serum Gold Winner for 2021. Completely vegan and cruelty-free, it uses retinol derived from moth beans to soothe your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Tea tree oil This natural ingredient is just as effective as AHAs and BHAs, but works over a longer time frame. Its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties can calm acne flare-ups and prevent lesions. As an oil, it moisturizes the skin, preventing the build-up of excess sebum. Tea tree oil also promotes skin cell turnover to lighten discoloration caused by acne, making it great for double-cleansing. This method involves cleansing with both oil and soap and can be especially beneficial for those who wear makeup to cover their acne. Witch hazel Since acne is an inflammatory disease, this natural ingredient can thus tame breakouts more effectively without using harsh chemicals. Its antioxidants and active tannins can dry out both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne, control oil production, kill the P. acnes that thrive within that oil, and even tighten pores to firm up the skin. As a result, it's best used as a toner — like those offered by Thayers or Quinns — and followed up with moisturizing serums, creams, or gels. Hyaluronic acid Seminal studies have shown that hydrated skin is less prone to breakouts, so don't forget to moisturize. The best moisturizers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound that attracts moisture and locks it into the skin. Acne-prone skin has a very thin lipid layer that is reinforced by this ingredient, which prevents oiliness and future acne flare-ups. As a result, you might see a reduced appearance in acne scars. However, having the right ingredients won't be enough to counter your acne. It can take a few months for them to take effect, so what you need the most is the discipline to power through. Ultimately, your skin will thank you for it! American Beauty Awards 2021

We had entries for skincare, beauty, hair care, body care and of course makeup. A range of incredible brands entered who we will be looking at in more detail over the next month from our blogger Daniel who reviews the brands who enter our beauty awards each year. As editor though, I really found the Best Shampoo / Conditioner entries really fun this year and loved all three of the following: BEST SHAMPOO / CONDITIONER GOLD WINNER Gold Haircare Gold Dream Shampoo BEST SHAMPOO / CONDITIONER SILVER WINNER Graydon - Matcha mint hair smoothie (conditioner and detangler) BEST SHAMPOO / CONDITIONER BRONZE WINNER - Farmhouse fresh Rainbow Road® Body Wash You can read the full list of winners from the USA Global Makeup Awards on our winners page here. Certain beauty trends we saw this year was the use of Hyaluronic Acid to keep skin hydrated. There was also a push towards green beauty, natural products and vegan, which seems to be a trend which is increasing year after year. Indeed, we have a whole green and clean awards dedicated to brands like this called the Global Green Beauty Awards which will be opening in March 2022 for our third edition. Makeup is also a big innovation in the USA. In fact, Kylie Cosmetics which is made in the USA has become the global makeup leader. We had some fabulous entries for our makeup categories. Some notable Gold Winners from our American beauty awards are the following: BEST MASCARA GOLD WINNER - Dome Beauty Magnetic Mascara BEST PRIMER GOLD WINNER - Tatcha Silk Canvas Protecting Primer BEST BRONZER GOLD WINNER Stila Caribbean Dream Bronzer Duo It's the final countdown! Entries for the UK 2021 Global Makeup Awards close in 5 days, on 15th March 2021.
It has been a whopping 3 months since the awards opened on the 1st January 2021. Trying to organise so many amazing entries alongside Brexit and the Global Pandemic have made this year's awards one to remember. There have been a fair share of logistical difficulties with couriers the last few months, but not a challenge we can't handle! We have seen an astonishing number of entries, and the bell hasn't chimed yet - we still have a huge 5 more days to see the entries pour in. There have been so many new brands back this year, after multiple years and awards of entry. We adore seeing so much brand loyalty, and we recognise and appreciate all the brands who come back year after year to our beauty awards. We also have seen a huge number of new beauty brands! As our UK 2021 Global Makeup Awards celebrates the best in new launches, it is great to see lots of start-ups showcasing their new beauty products. With categories not just in makeup, but also in skincare, hair care, body care and hygiene, we are seeing a record number of entries. There is still time to enter though, with 5 days to get your entry in. There is nothing like a last minute entry and we look forward to seeing the final push this weekend! In fact, we are dying to see what the last minute entries are! The global pandemic has changed consumer habits, and we are seeing a bigger focus on health and wellbeing, skincare, hair care and anything which is DIY at home beauty! As soon as the UK 2021 Global Makeup Awards close, we are delighted to announce, that for its second year the 2021 Global Green Beauty Awards will launch straight after! This is for greener and cleaner brands with no launch date restrictions. In fact we look forward to telling you about these green beauty awards in the upcoming blogs. Many brands want to showcase their ethical ethos and we are so proud to have an award which recognises this shift towards being more eco-conscious and responsible. We look forward to announcing the winners in Global Makeup Magazine at the end of April. Speak soon beauty lovers! The GMA team x At the moment, with COVID19, regional lockdowns, and the lack of ease we feel going to beauty salons, people are turning ever more to at home beauty treatments. In today's blog we will be looking at lockdown beauty regimes, and what we can do for a bit of self care while at home ourselves, and without breaking the bank! Here are our top hair masks and facial masks from some of our favorite brands from the Global Makeup Awards and the Global Green Beauty Awards. Biovène Oil Replacement, Hair Wrap Treatment Advertised as being a Hair Wrap Treatment + Oil Replacement Feature + Packed with the Wonders of Arian Extract, Moroccan Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate we were wondering if this Biovene product could really come up with these promises. It did. This handy sachet contains an immediate pick up for dry, damaged hair and did indeed leave it feeling healthier and glossier. We have already spoken about how much we adore the Biovène Shampoo Bars, and this hair wrap lived up to the name of the other products too. Such a small sachet with such a big punch! We loved it. Just opening the sachet revealed a really substantial cap containing the serum. Much stronger than the usual shower cap type it promised it was going to be a quality product. After washing hair and leaving in a towel dry condition we put the cap on, fastening it with a really good adhesive tab. Good start. Massage the product in and leave for another 20 minutes. Towel dry hair for some us meant hair that was impossible to brush through. After the treatment hair comes out that was easily combed! Amazing. After drying hair was left visibly in much better condition. Soft and smooth to the touch. Looks as though we are going to be in another Covid -19 wave. Make sure you get this product in your hair product box. It’s a definite great one for longer waits to get to the hairdresser. A professional finish for not a great deal of money - only 3.49 euros. Another must have October favourite from our Global Makeup Awards team was www.seoulistabeauty.com/collections/rosy-glow-primer/products/rosy-glow-primer SEOULISTA ROSY GLOW PRIMER Priming Mask infused with Bulgarian Rose Oil.
A five minute face mask that impressed us with ease of use, wake up feel, and beautiful softening and smoothing effect on the skin. So simple to place the mask in the correct place on the face with eyes, nose and mouth in the right place! Had perfect clinging effect on the skin With only a few bubbles to smooth out. Dermatologically created and tested and containing no silicone this very affordable product is definitely one to look out for. After five minutes skin felt fresh and invigorated. Sling was soft and glowing. We used some of the product left in the mask to apply as a further moisturiser just to make use of every drop of this lovely mask. The fragrance really resonant of the smell of old English roses. Beautiful. This product is just one of a much larger range of individual instant sachets for hand and body. Products range also includes a range of skin tools and we look forward to testing these too. Definitely one to put on the list, and at £5.50, a bargain you can't resist! We all need a bit of self love at the moment, and an at home mask is something you can indulge in without guilt.

I’m sorry. I just couldn’t stop myself from writing another In The Spotlight blog. I just love investigating more about the companies and people behind the great products which were winners in our beauty awards and make-up awards and I want everyone to know about them. It's wonderful looking through their Instagram pages, reading the company bios and I particularly enjoy read their blogs. Today I’ve highlighted 3 winners from the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards which were held earlier this summer. BEST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT SILVER WINNER - Lusso Tan Bath Bomb The Summer Meadow Bath Bomb is loaded with essential oils carefully selected to heighten your senses, hydrate your skin and give it velvety smooth texture. Impressively, they will donate 47p to Mencap for every one of their Limited Edition bath Bomb’s purchased. I love their choice of charity and their commitment to improving the lives of others. They also write some super blogs. I especially enjoyed this one from last summer, which is very relevant now in the midst of this current heatwave - https://lussotan.com/blogs/news/holiday- tanning-myths BEST FRAGRANCE BRONZE WINNER - Missguided Babe Power I have to admit, in addition to having created a fantastic fragrance, I am also in love with the company and products names which left me curious and keen to know more about the company and people behind the product. The Missguided brand has a clear mission and that is to “empower females globally to be confident in themselves and be who they want to be”. This comes across clearly through the company branding which is exactly how they themselves describe it- bold, clear and forward-thinking. These guys at Missguided understand the current climate and have really captured the attitude of women towards modern life, including social media, street style and popular culture. Run by Nitin Passi, who previously had a successful career in the New York Fashion Industry, he set-up by himself in 2009 and has gone from strength to strength. Clearly running his own business suits him and he expresses himself wonderfully through the brand. Follow his adventures on Instagram - BEST FOUNDATION GOLD WINNER - Lily Lolo Founded in 2005 by Vikki Khan and named after her sisters, Lily Lolo is a British natural mineral makeup brand. We had over 350 entries so the best of the best were picked and we love highlighting those winners in our In the Spotlight beauty blogs. Hello friends, My recent blogs showcasing some of our recent 2020 UK Global Makeup Awards winners have been pleasingly popular, I must say I love writing them! Today I would like to highlight some more wonderful companies which not only have super products deserving of beauty awards but also have such fascinating back-stories and positive contributions to our industry. BEST ANTI AGEING PRODUCT GOLD WINNER Manuka Doctor 24K Gold & Manuka Honey Face Oil Manuka Doctor was gold winner for best anti ageing product in the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards. Manuka Doctor is a company with a firm foot still in its homeland among the fresh New Zealand mountains where their expert Bee Keepers source high-quality, quality authentic Mānuka Honey. The last few years has seen demand for the honey increase dramatically as more and more people become tuned-in its well-being properties. The origins of the company go all the way back to 1909 and the Manuka Doctor strives to keep their production techniques as clean and pure now as they were in the beginning. Their philosophy is to use the best ingredients from New Zealand and the remain a rare example of a New Zealand honey company which runs its private business in a fully integrated way. We loved this product because we could see an approved appearance of our skin, reduced wrinkles and improved skin radiance. It is 2020's must have beauty product. BEST BEAUTY TOOL GOLD WINNER Mary Kay Skinvigorate Sonic Skin Care System Mary Kay Mission – Enriching the lives of women and their families around the world. That’s a great mission statement! Furthermore, Mary Kay back it up by creating excellent products which really do have a positive effect on women and their families! Founded in 1963, Mary Kay’s original offer consisted of one foundation product along with four skincare products. By the late eighties they had banned animal testing and created a recycling programme. Soon after they achieved the impressive milestone of $1Billion wholesale sales. According to Instagram Mary Kay China has just celebrated its 25 th Birthday. The company’s standpoint on equality is inspirational and I absolutely love how they promote their beauty products from a feminist standpoint as well as vocally getting behind the recent #BLM movement. This is a company run by people who know who they are and what change they want to make in the world. Mary Kay’s huge success only underpins the notion that you don’t have to abandon your values to be successful. The Skinvigorate Sonic Skin Care System provides you with a cleaner, impurity free face in just 60 seconds. It was truly deserving of a gold win in the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards. The Skinvigorate also removes 4 x more dirt, makeup and pollutants compared to just hand cleaning at home. This means you are left with super clean skin, that looks fresher and rejuvenated. It really is a must have cleanser, up there with LumiSpa and Foreo Luna 3 skincare cleansers. I’d love to tell you more about these brands but probably the best thing you can do is head over to their websites to find out more about their history, their products and their latest news. They are thoroughly deserving of their beauty awards and in this tough year so far, I definitely think any products that help us feel better and healthier are a great thing, By the way, here in Italy the weather is super-hot, just as it has been in the UK, and it is great to see
lots of German tourists have come back to Italy as soon as they could, to enjoy the food, culture and beautiful scenery. It’s a huge boost not only to the tourism sector but to everyone’s mood. Living in a ghost town started off like a novelty but it soon became quite draining! Also, thank you for all your entries in the Global Green Beauty Awards and the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards - watch out for their entry deadlines closing in mid july and 1st of August respectively. Until next time! Dan Our beautiful UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards trophies have arrived!Good (early) morning everyone!
It's Dominique here from the Global Makeup Awards. Today I'm up too early....3.45am because the sun is just rising, it's one day after the summer solstice. That's not a regular habit of mine... more just being someone who once sees the sun is up, I can never get back to sleep again, anyone else like that? A little quick update with where we are with the awards. We currently have TWO awards open. We have both the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards open (a green beauty awards alternative) and the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards open. (This is like the other Global Makeup Awards you know and love, but this time we've branched out into the fabulous American market, where the is so much beauty innovation and expertise. We are so excited to be launching in the USA and for our USA beauty awards to be taking on a whole other shape and dimension. Entries for the Global Green Beauty Award end July 15th, and for the USA Global Makeup Awards the entries close August 1st. We don't normally have two awards running at the same time, but as you all know coronavirus has wreaked havoc on schedules and timings so we have had to have had a little reshuffle! In other beauty related news, we have had delivery of our 2020 UK Global Makeup Awards trophies. They are so beautiful. We love our innovatively designed A6 perspex block beauty award trophies. They look so cute on a desk to celebrate a win or placed on a shelf. If you have just entered our Global Green Beauty Awards or the USA Global Makeup Awards and would like to order one like in the picture, just let us know. Why not try and collect one for each global region that we run our awards in, or one each year? They cost £150 for one trophy celebrating one win, but be sure to let us know soon as you win as we have a short order window. What do you receive when you win in our awards? We really do try to add value in our awards. Every winner in our beauty awards receives for free and entry in our Global Makeup Magazine, and for the moment that includes an image too. You also receive a paper certificate posted to your door and of course our iconic awards logo and a mention with back link on our website. But, if that's not enough for you and you would like something physical on your desk, then an additional perspex trophy is exactly what you are looking for. We also announce the winners in Diary Directory. Have you signed up to it yet? It is such an amazing beauty tool to find out what is going on in the beauty events calendar, and their daily email is really interesting. You'll also never miss out on our awards dates this way either! Will you ever run a gala? A gala for our beauty awards is something we are so keen to do. What better event is there for networking, socialising, having a good knees up and of course for finding out the winners to the beauty awards with a celebration gala. However, for the moment with the coronavirus pandemic we need to keep things safe. As soon as things return to pre-apocalypse (kidding! but you know what I mean) then it is definitely something we will put on the table. The sun is really coming up now and it's already time for another coffee. If you have received your UK Global Makeup Awards trophy please do send me a picture of it so I can feature on the website and social media. Our next UK awards isn't until January 2021 so let's keep the ball rolling and news about the 2020 awards hot hot hot! Peace and love Dominique x |
