Hi again everyone! Wow, summer has arrived here in Italy. It is baking hot so I’m inside with my blinds down trying to avoid the full midday heat, without much success! In today’s blog, I want to write about some of the Taiwanese beauty awards winners of the 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards and share some info about their products as well as their stories. This was our first year launching in the Asian beauty market so it was really interesting to see the different styles of beauty entries from the different Asian beauty markets. We will firstly touch on the wider backdrop of Taiwanese beauty within the Asian beauty market. Firstly though, I would like to write a little about T Beauty (Taiwanese Beauty) What is it and how is it different from K Beauty (Korean Beauty)? Well, actually, this topic has already been superbly written about over at MIIRU Shop, see their post here but if I can summarise their article, the main difference is that T Beauty is derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine and its main focus is on health and well-being. K Beauty on the other hand is mainly inspired by the country’s famous pop stars and actors and is focused on being a multi (sometimes 10 step) step skincare regime to create flawless skin. So, let’s take a closer look at some of the winners from our recent Asian beauty awards. Firstly, we have Siele who took home three awards including Gold in the BEST SERUM category for their SIELE DIVINE REVITALIZING AQUA GEL. SIELE seeks to work with nature’s principles without harming it. Their concept is to create skin-friendly, natural and environmentally-friendly products. In their view, good skincare can also have the power to help the body, mind and spirit to relax. The founder considers herself to be a modern woman and wants people to really understand the importance of natural beauty products and the ingredients used in them. Beyond that, she aims to provide fashionable, natural products which highlight each woman’s individuality and personality. The Taiwanese MY BEAUTY DIARY also won multiple awards including Gold for Best Face Mask for their Rejuvenate Deep Hydration Mask. Founded in 2005, My Beauty Diary is now sold in 15 different countries. They have three main aims, to lead clients on their beauty journey, to provide safe and reliable products, and to remain loyal and supportive to their customers. This is one of the biggest names in the Asian beauty scene, and most famous for their face masks. Though - they also won an award for their ampoules in this years 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards. The BEST BODY PRODUCT GOLD WINNER was T Beauty company SECRET CASTLE for their ROSE ESSENCE BODY LOTION. Secret Castle was established in 2015, and we were most impressed with the Rose Essence Body Lotion which is an amazing product that was a worthy winner of its Gold win in the 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards. They also have a strong range of other bath and body products. Previously, their 3 in 1 rose shampoo has also won in our Global Makeup Awards. The heady floral scent is perfect for feeling clean and fresh from the shower. Aeveop was a contender in the BEST ANTI AGEING PRODUCT category and finished as GOLD WINNER for their Revitalizing Facial Oil. Aeveop and Swissvita are two excellent brands which are overarched by Allyoung Group. Established in 2007, they now sell over 1 million units every single year through their network of brands and are devoted to social responsibility and environmental sustainability. They have also collaborated with ELLE on product development and eCommerce. So, thanks to all these companies for their fantastic T Beauty Products and for being part of the 2021 ASIA GLOBAL MAKEUP AWARDS. Its been great sharing more info about their stories! Hi everyone! I get so excited about Christmas and the whole build-up ...and then get to have it all again in January as I'm just as excited about the opening of entries for the Global Makeup Awards! There are no January slumps here! Entries are now open for the 2021 UK Global Makeup Awards and also the 2021 ASIA Global Makeup Awards which is their first inaugural year due to so many requests from Asian, and Eurasian countries. We love working with new brands and like-minded companies and discover so many amazing products. One of my favourite categories is for BEST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT. Last year in the UK Global Makeup Awards some of the GOLD WINNERS were Tweezerfile and House of Life London for their facial advance no 31. I’d love to share some more information about these companies with you now. Firstly, can I say that Tweezerfile have the most beautiful website, unlike most company websites out there. It’s not just extremely easy on the eye but also really engaging and fun, while still being user-friendly and easy to navigate. Based in Finchley, North London, and the brainchild of husband and wife team Lucy and Wolfgang Zender, Tweezerfile, as you may have guessed is a file for you tweezers. They use a diamond-plated stainless steel surface to re-invigorate your tired sets of tweezers, reducing wastage and saving you cash. Earlier this year it was featured in a great article at Glamour Magazine UK which dealt with home eyebrow care. Another favourite of ours was the Gold winner House of Life London with their facial advance no.31. This product is designed to reduce lines and increase skin firmness and is made of a blend of 31 natural and organic compounds. Deborah Craven-Smith-Milnes launched House of Life London in 2016, after spending 20 years working in global technology innovations. We love her philosophy which is to “simplify the skincare landscape” by providing products with multiple benefits that can be used both day and night. Personally, I think the Tweezerfile is a product that every household should own, I can’t believe it hadn’t been invented before but maybe I the future we won’t remember life without one! Ciao Dan So we’ve all heard of K-Beauty which has become over the years an umbrella term for skin-care products that are derived from South Korea. However, a newer term in the world of beauty is S-Beauty - which stands for Scandinavian Beauty or Scandi-Beauty. Whereas K-beauty became famous in Europe as we were intrigued by their 10 step skincare regime - S Beauty is quite the opposite - looking at more minimalist products that have a higher efficacy.
In this year’s 2020 Scandinavian Global Makeup Awards, we thought it would be interesting to delve deeper into the intricacies of S-Beauty. At its core, S-Beauty is about an all natural beauty look, often using natural products. When it comes to makeup, S-beauty favours a more subtle look using natural and earthy colours that enhance your own natural beauty. Packaging is minimalist, futuristic and bang on trend, much like their renown Scandi decor. Self care while going through lockdown 2.0 is what is really important right now, and Scandinavians known how to hunker down and enjoy time indoor in the warm and cosy while it’s cold outside. In fact, Scandinavian winters are known for being sub-zero, and that can take a toll on the delicate skin on your face. Perhaps the most well known in S-Beauty in the makeup world is Kkaer Weis, famous for high-performing, luxury makeup that is both certified organic and sustainable. In skincare, there is a myriad of names, as Scandinavians take their skincare routine very seriously. Despite being known as a nation of minimalism, they don’t skimp on the steps in skincare routine. Big name players are Rosenserien, FOREO, Eleni & Chris, Barr Sweden, Skogen Cosmetics, Primex Iceland and Mette Picaut, just to name a few. S-Beauty goes further than just the products that you put on your skin and the earthy tones of the makeup you choose. It is a way of life. Balance is central to all things Scandinavian, which is part of their appreciate of ‘Hygge’. You need to balance the modern world with nature, and balance also your own like. A balanced and colourful diet is very important to them as well as finding time for themselves, and of course time to exercise. It is all tied in together - makeup, diet, exercise, inner wellbeing, in helping them to feel like the best versions of themselves. With all the uncertainties right now with the coronavirus pandemic, we could all do with taking a leaf out of the Scandinavians book, and look at enjoying the smaller things in life and taking a more balanced approach. The next time you make a beauty purchase, why not try S-Beauty, and look for better ingredients, a more natural approach and see if it is an all rounder that can do more.
