Our beautiful UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards trophies have arrived!Good (early) morning everyone!
It's Dominique here from the Global Makeup Awards. Today I'm up too early....3.45am because the sun is just rising, it's one day after the summer solstice. That's not a regular habit of mine... more just being someone who once sees the sun is up, I can never get back to sleep again, anyone else like that? A little quick update with where we are with the awards. We currently have TWO awards open. We have both the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards open (a green beauty awards alternative) and the 2020 USA Global Makeup Awards open. (This is like the other Global Makeup Awards you know and love, but this time we've branched out into the fabulous American market, where the is so much beauty innovation and expertise. We are so excited to be launching in the USA and for our USA beauty awards to be taking on a whole other shape and dimension. Entries for the Global Green Beauty Award end July 15th, and for the USA Global Makeup Awards the entries close August 1st. We don't normally have two awards running at the same time, but as you all know coronavirus has wreaked havoc on schedules and timings so we have had to have had a little reshuffle! In other beauty related news, we have had delivery of our 2020 UK Global Makeup Awards trophies. They are so beautiful. We love our innovatively designed A6 perspex block beauty award trophies. They look so cute on a desk to celebrate a win or placed on a shelf. If you have just entered our Global Green Beauty Awards or the USA Global Makeup Awards and would like to order one like in the picture, just let us know. Why not try and collect one for each global region that we run our awards in, or one each year? They cost £150 for one trophy celebrating one win, but be sure to let us know soon as you win as we have a short order window. What do you receive when you win in our awards? We really do try to add value in our awards. Every winner in our beauty awards receives for free and entry in our Global Makeup Magazine, and for the moment that includes an image too. You also receive a paper certificate posted to your door and of course our iconic awards logo and a mention with back link on our website. But, if that's not enough for you and you would like something physical on your desk, then an additional perspex trophy is exactly what you are looking for. We also announce the winners in Diary Directory. Have you signed up to it yet? It is such an amazing beauty tool to find out what is going on in the beauty events calendar, and their daily email is really interesting. You'll also never miss out on our awards dates this way either! Will you ever run a gala? A gala for our beauty awards is something we are so keen to do. What better event is there for networking, socialising, having a good knees up and of course for finding out the winners to the beauty awards with a celebration gala. However, for the moment with the coronavirus pandemic we need to keep things safe. As soon as things return to pre-apocalypse (kidding! but you know what I mean) then it is definitely something we will put on the table. The sun is really coming up now and it's already time for another coffee. If you have received your UK Global Makeup Awards trophy please do send me a picture of it so I can feature on the website and social media. Our next UK awards isn't until January 2021 so let's keep the ball rolling and news about the 2020 awards hot hot hot! Peace and love Dominique x

.Hi Everyone, We thought we would look into and explore what is happening to the beauty industry during the coronavirus pandemic. There's some pretty scary stats out there about the economy in general - four days ago the BBC reported that the economy has drunk a record 20.4% in April. The big question in our industry though is, how is the beauty and cosmetics industry being affected? Firstly - some products are not only on the up, but are spiralling into the stratospheres of success - bars of soap, liquid soap, hand sanitiser and disinfecting products. We have also seen beauty brands help out - one of our winner's in the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards, the L'Occitane Group, has manufactured over 70,000 litres of hand sanitizer for health officials. As spas and salons have been forced to shut by government mandate (Treatwell is currently suspended), we have also seen a huge rise in home treatments. That includes home face masks, box hair dye kits and home hair removal kits. At this point we of course want to mention our favourite hair removal kit, and winner in the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards - No Mo-Stache's No Mo-Unibrow. On the other hand, the beauty events calendar has been thrown into the air. Beauty Awards with galas have had to cancel the galas of course and stream them online or to announce them online. Beauty Expos such as Bologna's Cosmoprof has been postponed until next year and will be Spring 2021. People are also looking after themselves more in lockdown - we are seeing 40% of high income earners looking to actively manage their stress, including with at home spa treatments. Brands have been forced online, and have been selling through their website, facebook, Instagram and other online channels. Many, who haven't been able to adapt to selling online, have ceased business for months, It's not all doom and gloom for the beauty industry though. Euromonitor international predicts that the beauty sector, both luxury and non luxury, is set to fall by just 2% this year. It is a negative fall, but it could have been much worse. For example, comparatively, the luxury goods market will fall 18% this year globally. As a side note, Switzerland is seeing a fall of 25% for the luxury goods market, which is a whopping fall of 1 in 4. We are also expected to see an economic bounce back, and we are hoping some consumers have experimented with new beauty brands during lockdown. What is the Global Makeup Awards and Global Green Beauty Awards seeing within the beauty and cosmetics industry? In addition to the above - we thought you might want to see closer to home our own experiences and expectations for the beauty industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of course we have seen business struggle with warehouse issues, particularly at the beginning of the outbreak when there were no organised ways to manage social distancing, but that now seems to almost have disappeared. People have more guidance and know how to work appropriately. We are also seeing people want to use marketing more than ever to promote their brands online. We have seen a monumental number of entries in the Global Green Beauty Awards. This awards is green and clean, and it seems the coronavirus outbreak has also led people to be more environmentally aware. This has been the perfect backdrop to enter the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards. Though we had to postpone Asia as a beauty awards which was due to launch, regrettably, during the Chinese coronavirus outbreak, as a whole the other regions haven't been affected and are going ahead as scheduled. As an online beauty awards and makeup awards, we are online only so thankfully we have not had to cancel any galas and therefore on a personal level haven't been too affected by the crisis. We hope everyone is slowly getting back to normal and looking forward to nominating their brands in our upcoming USA Global Makeup Awards (An American Beauty Award) and the Global Green Beauty Awards (an environmentally friendly green beauty award). Best wishes the GMA team xx You may have noticed that we have two awards running at once over here. Because of the global coronavirus pandemic, we've had to switch up our schedule and that means that ASIA has been postponed (we are expecting until the end of the year). This was when we thought the coronavirus was just something we were seeing to affect Asia and then little did we know it was something that would concern the global community. Rather than postpone the rest of our awards (we run 4-5 beauty awards each year) we have instead reshuffled our dates.
So that means we currently have both the USA Global Makeup Awards open as well as the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards! It means things are a bit hectic in our work from home offices right now :) but we love the business and we are overwhelmed with all the entries we have been getting. So we thought we would provide a little update to those who follow the Global Makeup Awards. The Global Green Beauty Awards have been open for a few months now. It is open for all eco friendly beauty brands who are looking for green awards for their beauty products. There are no launch date restrictions and all companies globally can enter. We have seen entries from the UK, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, India, Iceland, Finland, Denmark and the USA so far. We are so proud of the global effort for beauty brands to move towards more environmentally friendly, natural organic and sustainable beauty products. In fact, at this point in time we have had over 150 entires and there is still another month to go so it has been a truly mammoth year for the Global Green Beauty Awards. We also have the USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards open. This has only just opened and is for all brands open in America, whether by post or for sale in the shops. We are seeing some amazing game changing brands from america and we are so excited that it is open as a region for itself. The USA has always been known for its innovation in the beauty field and we are so happy to have an awards especially dedicated to it! We are so glad that our awards recognised different regions globally as it gives consumers more of an opportunity to see what is available in their own country and outside it. The USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards will close for entries August 1st 2020. Best wishes The Global Makeup Awards Team x USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards launch June 1st 2020 We are ecstatic to announce the launch of the USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards. We had over 350 entrants for the UK awards, and we are sure we are going to beat this record with the USA. The USA is the global leader in beauty and cosmetics which means we can't wait to see their hottest launches for 2020. We were so excited to go to the North America, Las Vegas COSMOPROF beauty event this year, which has been postponed. It typically attracts over 40,000 guests which is quite incredible. They are hoping their June dates will now be in September but due to the coronavirus outbreak this might be postponed again. Let's wait and see! Regardless of Las Vegas Cosmoprof, we will be going ahead with the USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards. We have some key dates for your calender so be sure to put down the following for our beauty awards: USA 2020 GLOBAL MAKEUP AWARDS. June 1st 2020 - Awards open for entries August 1st 2020 - Awards entries close August 10th 2020 - Last submission of product samples September 10th 2020 - Winners Announced Online To enter the awards we are looking only for the newest and freshest beauty products - so we are looking for products launched after January 2018 only. We require 6 x product samples which will be judged by our panel of judges. Please note that for shipping from the USA to the UK you will need to fill our the appropriate customs label! We have categories for makeup, skincare, body care, haircare innovation and more, so have a look at our USA 2020 Global Makeup Awards product categories list which is available to view now. The product entry page will be open from June 1st when the awards go live for entries. From big to Indy brands, we have seen that everyone is in for a chance to win with our beauty awards. Winners will receive a paper certificate and an online winners badge for their gold, silver or bronze wins in the awards. Online they will also get a back link direct to their website and gold winners will also have a free image on our website to enhance their win. If, however, green and clean is more your thing, then why not look into our Global Green Beauty Awards. This is open to brands globally and there are no launch date restrictions. There are categories for brands and beauty products which are green, organic, natural, ethical, zero waste, cruelty free or made from key natural ingredients. Entries for the Global Green Awards are open now until July 15th.
Hi everyone. Dan here, firstly with a little update on life here in Italy and then with a quick spotlight on one of the victors after the recent announcement of the winners at the 2020 UK Global Makeup Awards. So, since we last met, lockdown measures have gradually eased here in the region of Lombardy. Lombardy is in the north of the country; it borders Switzerland and its two largest cities are Milan and Brescia. The word Lombardy is originally formed from Long and Beard, that’s pretty cool. I’m down in the Brescia region, among the stunning mountains at the popular holiday destination Lake Garda. Over the past week, shops and restaurants have gradually reopened, and once again there are people on the streets and visiting cafes. On Friday afternoon I had an appointment in the beautiful lakeside town of Salo, and there was a wonderful energy and atmosphere as friends re-connected with each other after nearly 3 months of isolation. Everyone seemed to respect social distancing and the police were helping restaurateurs to arrange their tables according to new regulations Personally, I’ve particularly enjoyed getting my paddleboard back out on the lake. The scenery here is beautiful but I don’t think any view of the area beats the view from when you are actually in or on the lake! In addition to getting out on the lake, our international team has been busy announcing the UK winners of the 2020 Global Makeup Awards. There were over 350 entries to our beauty awards and over the next few blogs, we’re excited to share more information and background on some of the winners. You can read our debuted new magazine "Global Makeup Magazine" showing the winner's showcase for the 2020 Global Makeup Awards here. Let’s start with the BEST CLEANSER GOLD WINNER. Beuti skincare prevailed in a competitive market to take home the gold award for their Pomegranate glow 3 in 1 enzyme cleanser & Phytoessence Biocosmetics Face Cleansing Oil, launched in 2015 by former aesthetician LEILA AALAM with the mission of providing high quality yet affordable beauty products free from unnecessary chemicals. Beuti products were an immediate hit and Kate Middleton even took care to include their products while packing her hospital bag as she prepared to give birth to little Louis -read the blog here: https://beutiskincare.com/the-duchess-of-cambridge-uses-elixir-whilst-giving-birth/ The Pomegranate glow 3 in 1 enzyme cleanser is a fantastic product which in addition to being an excellent cleanser, also functions as a facemask when left applied for 5-10 minutes. The fermented Pomegranate acts like a gentle glycolic acid which exfoliates and cleanses skin while rose clay while Copaiba Balsam soothes and protects against inflammation. Beuti were hugely deserving winners in this category of beauty awards despite facing a lot of competition from other high-quality brands. Do check out their website where you can order online and access a list of stockists throughout the UK, USA and Europe - https://beutiskincare.com/shop/ That’s all for now but please stay tuned for more spotlights on worthy winners from our most recent awards over the coming days and weeks. We love sharing more information with you about our winners and their stories! Global Beauty Awards and an update from Italy for all those curious from the UK and beyond!
Hi everyone, Dan from the Global Beauty Awards here again with a little update on the state of things here in the lake garda region on Italy where the sun is shining but the beaches are empty, and the bars are closed. Tomorrow we have an exciting announcement - at 5pm we will be announcing the winners of the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards. There's been a record number of entries for this awards with over 350 entries! We couldn't believe how many big and small brands entered. If you are still looking to enter an award for your brand - our Global Green Beauty Awards are open for entry with categories for ethical, green, vegan, zero waste, plastic free and natural beauty brands. I thought I would also give a little update on life at the moment in Italy where I am writing this from, as we really can't avoid discussing the coronavirus situation and how it is affecting everyday life in every country and of all walks of life. So, nearly eight weeks have passed since the Italian government declared a lockdown in the country and the rules have gradually become stricter. I live in a fairly small town of 7,000 inhabitants and local news and gossip spreads quickly round here! Last week a citizen was fined 220 euros for not wearing a mask while walking his dog. In the Lombardy region it is now compulsory for anyone leaving the house to wear a mask or at least cover their face with a scarf or bandana. Then a few days later, a woman who is in the process of moving from one house to another was fined 550 euros for passing by her new house to pick up some things while on the way to the supermarket. So, I think its fairly to say that the lockdown is being enforced quite strictly here. The good news though is that the daily death rare, whilst still terrifyingly high, is going down and hopefully the worst is behind us. The government is planning to re-open some businesses and we are awaiting official confirmation of ‘phase 2’ plans. They are due to make an announcement today, but we are expecting that on May 4 th some of the restrictions forbidding us to go out will be lifted. That’s s huge relief as it is extremely eerie watching police cars slowly circle the block while playing a pre-recorded message through a loudspeaker, warning residents to say in their houses. I’m a little more used to the strange atmosphere in the supermarkets now although shopping is not the highlight of me week and I’ve managed to stretch out to nine days between visits, even if that means more meals of tuna and pasta than I’d normally like. On the bright side, since the local beach, which is two minutes away, is out of bounds, I’ve had more time to work with my colleagues on our next beauty awards. Actually, that’s not a chore because our team rocks and we love our jobs. Still, paddle-boarding out on the lake is always pretty special. So, what have we been up to? Well we opened for entries to the Global Green Beauty Awards a few weeks ago and we’ve already had an impressive number of entries. It’s so reassuring to know that the beauty industry takes the environment so seriously and is working so hard to create products in an ethical and sustainable way. Thank you to everyone who has entered so far, for anyone who would still like to enter their product, we are accepting entries until mid-July but don’t delay. Enter now and don’t miss the chance to showcase your fantastic products and share with us all the important work you do to help the planet with your entry into the Global Green Beauty Awards. Hi Everyone, Our recent ‘In the Spotlight’ blogs have been really popular and quite a few people have requested more. Naturally, we’re happy to oblige. We love writing about our favourite brands and sharing the stories behind the products. We honestly don’t believe that the any company could be successful within the beauty sector without a deep-rooted passion for helping other people and creating quality products, while continually driving the industry forward. This is Dan with another blog from Italy lockdown! In a minute I want to tell you some exciting news about the imminent launch of the 2020 Green Global Beauty Awards but first here’s a little update from life in lockdown in the Brescia region of Italy, one of the areas hit hardest by coronavirus. Strangely, after over three weeks I feel like I’m getting used to this staying at home malarkey. It’s definitely a sad time for all of us in Italy and tragic that so many people are losing loved ones. However, it’s important for us to all stay fit, healthy and, most of all, positive during these challenging and uncertain times. Some positives which I have taken are: Doing online fitness classes with my old outdoor fitness gang from London. We used to train together in the park at 6:30am three times a week, rain or shine. In fact, I remember once after training through a huge downpour, that the local rugby coach furiously called all his players from the park to demand why they couldn’t turn up to their training session while we all could! Anyway, we’ve been training together online and its been great to see friends who I haven’t seen for four years. Online Poker – A little less healthy but last night I had so much fun playing with my old school friends online. We even did it in fancy dress. I’m kind of enjoying experimenting with the freedom lockdown fashion gives. Anything goes! Acting – Haha! A close friend and I are also practicing our (extremely) amateur acting skills through facetime. We’re currently trying to work out what the heck is going on in Waiting for Godot. Music – Well, I always have time for music but I’m enjoying learning new songs on the ukulele and trying some beginner flamenco guitar techniques. Another reported consequence from lockdown has been greatly reduced pollution and reduced human impact on nature. Sadly, Brescia is one of the most polluted cities in Europe. I’m lucky to live outside of the city and near the beautiful Lake Garda but the traffic can still get extremely bad here, especially during the summer with a high volume of tourists and very few alternate route to get between the towns on the lake. The environment has been on everybody’s mind for quite a few years, but Greta’s recent campaign has brought it even more to the forefront. Such a huge achievement! We’ve already seen a lot of our previous award winners have business models which promote green practices and this April we will launch the 2020 Green Global Beauty Awards. Entries open April 1 st and these awards are obviously exclusively for green/clean brands. The Global Green Beauty Awards comes under the umbrella of the Global Makeup Awards for those brands who want to reflect their greener cleaner side with an awards specifically dedicated at their efforts. With attitudes changing and people wishing to have a more eco conscious beauty regime, we couldn't think of a better way to recognize industry experts than with the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards. Brands are welcome to enter both the Green Awards and the Global Makeup Awards. There will also be categories for organic products, reflecting the demand from customers to use more ethical skincare products on their skin. These awards are open to brands across the globe! Don’t hesitate to enter if your brand strives to create ethical and environmentally friendly products! That’s all for now folks but I’ll update you again soon! Until then, stay safe! Dan Coronavirus Update
Hello everybody. Best wishes to you all during these strange days. We would like to remind everyone and reassure you that the UK 2020 Global Makeup Awards is going ahead and will still be announced on 10th May. Today’s blog is from our Global Makeup Awards team member Dan who is based in the lake garda region of Italy, currently in lockdown due to the virus. Hi folks, here’s an update from a Londoner who’s been living in sunny Italy for the last four years. At the moment, here in the Brescia region we are all in lockdown and can only leave our houses for certain reasons, such as food shopping (only from the nearest supermarket), or medical emergencies. We need to fill out a form for each trip out of the house and police can fine or even imprison anyone who gives false information or moves around outside of their town without a valid reason. However, the latest news is that if everyone respects the order to stay at home #IoStoAcasa, hopefully that will make a big difference to the current infection rates. Apparently, the arrival of the hot Italian summer will hopefully also help kill off the virus. Of course, there isn’t much known about this virus at this stage and its possible that some news stories and internet rumour aren’t as accurate as we’d like but the reassuring message being displayed from many different buildings is “andra tutto bene” – everything’s gonna be all right”. I’m sure it will be but do hope we can get back to “normality” as soon as possible. Today I’ve been wondering, - how has coronavirus impacted the beauty industry? Of course, there are more important things to concern ourselves with, yet as I speak from the hardest hit area of Europe, I also know how important it is to also distract ourselves from worry about COVID-19 and to think about things that make us happy and feel good. For many of us, that includes our favourite beauty products. That being said, obviously the current situation has had repercussions on planned events, beauty awards and makeup awards over the coming months. Here at Global Makeup Awards we have cancelled our Asia 2020 Awards Launch because of coronavirus and the difficulty that will ensue for brands who are closed (logistics etc.) You will see it launch next year or if this happens to blow over quicker than we think, you might even see the awards for ASIA at the end of 2020. For now, the main priority is to stay fit and healthy and to help other who need our help. BEAUTY NEWS AS A RESULT OF CORONAVIRUS Other news in beauty is that the large beauty trade fair - Cosmoprof in Bologna - has been postponed to June 11-14th. Also, the Natural and Organic Trade Show 2020 in the UK also has been postponed – (https://www.naturalproducts.co.uk/) and will now be held on 7-8 July. Here, we are working from home and plaaning something exciting for a ‘Green Beauty Awards’, stay tuned for more information! Anyway, that’s enough for today. I just thought I’d share an update with you from a Londoner in Italy and wish you all the best during these difficult times. The sense of optimism and community here is so strong; when we work together, we can overcome any challenge we face! Ciao a tutti! Daniel |
