Foreo - Scandinavia's cult classic beauty device
Wow! We are amazed at how many entries have been coming in for the 2021 Scandinavia Global Makeup Awards. If you haven’t entered your brand yet, don’t worry there’s still time as you can enter until November 25th 2021.
Then on December 20th 2021 the winners will be announced online (in our free online magazine and on the website). We can’t wait! It’s even more exciting than Christmas for us! Really! Well, as exciting then!
Much like in previous years we have received a very high calibre of products. As I mentioned in the last blog, Scandinavia is known for high quality minimalist products so expectations for these awards are high! We really love the Scandinavian approach to beauty and to business so we are really happy to put on these awards!
To warm us up for the imminent awards, let’s look at one of the most famous Scandinavian beauty brands, Foreo, which specialises in electronic cleansing devices.
Why is Foreo a cult beauty classic? Famous across the world, in last year’s Global Makeup Awards they took Gold for Best Beauty Tool with their wonderful UFO 2.
In case you are wondering what UFO 2 does, here are some more details. Described on their website as “A beauty spa in the palm of your hand” the UFO 2 devices provides instant warming which enables mask ingredients to infuse deep below the skin’s surface before cooling which assists the shrinking of the skin’s pores. It also features a full spectrum LED light which reduces signs of aging and helps to revitalize skin. Finally, it also includes a massage function which relaxes muscle tension points and boosts skin radiance.
Founded in a little office in Sweden in 2013, Foreo has quickly grown from a team of two to a worldwide team of 3000! They’ve sold over 36 million products to date and have customers in more than 75 countries. Their first product, LUNA, a sonic and silicone facial cleansing brush, was launched in 2013 and revolutionised the beauty industry by incorporating technology into people product application regimes.
If this sounds like the founders have a trailblazing attitude then you won’t be surprised to hear that the ethos at Foreo is built upon a ‘nothing is impossible’ attitude and the ever-growing team is carefully selected based on traits including a commitment to innovation. However, another important aspect of their philosophy is a commitment to kindness, decency and having fun. I think this really comes across in their brand and their products. The products are exciting so naturally the company is an exciting place to work!

In today’s post I would like to take a look back at ChitoCare Beauty, an Icelandic beauty brand from the 2020 Scandinavian Global Beauty Awards. Iceland is not the biggest country in the world yet it is teeming with high-quality beauty brands. Those guys at ChitoCare Beauty really know what they’re doing!
They won the category of: BEST FACE MASK GOLD WINNER with ChitoCare Beauty's fantastic Serum Mask. This serum mask is 100% biodegradable so it is responsible for the environment too. In fact, when using this mask while in the bath, you can leave it to dissolve into the bath water to hydrate the skin on your body as well.
For over 20 years they have been using a state of the art ingredients for their products: chitin and chitosan (sourced from the shell of North Atlantic Coldwater Shrimps) manufactured in Siglufjordur Iceland. Using modern and sophisticated technology, they source natural products all year round. The serum mask also contains Hyaluronic Acid which leaves the skin feeling moisturised and hydrated.
Much like their compatriots, ChitoCare Beauty are heavily focussed on creating natural beauty products in an environmentally-friendly and sustainable fashion. They closely follow Icelandic governmental regulations around ocean sustainability, always taking the health of the planet and the lives of future generations into consideration.
So, as we have seen, in addition to being one of the most beautiful and magical places in the world, Iceland is also disproportionately important to the world of skincare and natural beauty. There is a common thread that runs through their brands which is an apparent love for their country, a passion for high-quality products and a genuine, authentic consideration of the environment. They very much seem to have a long-term view when it comes to business and don’t like to take short-cuts or cheaper/easier alternatives for their ingredients.

We announced the winners to the USA Global Makeup Awards and as ever we were astounded by the entries from so many American Beauty brands who entered this years American Beauty Awards. All winners are promoted in our beauty magazine Global Makeup Magazine, and you can read each edition for free by clicking the above image.
Looking at the full scope of 'Made in USA' beauty brands, this season's magazine looks at America's best beauty brands. We also look in detail at what 'Made in USA' really means.
We had entries for skincare, beauty, hair care, body care and of course makeup. A range of incredible brands entered who we will be looking at in more detail over the next month from our blogger Daniel who reviews the brands who enter our beauty awards each year. As editor though, I really found the Best Shampoo / Conditioner entries really fun this year and loved all three of the following:

There was also a push towards green beauty, natural products and vegan, which seems to be a trend which is increasing year after year. Indeed, we have a whole green and clean awards dedicated to brands like this called the Global Green Beauty Awards which will be opening in March 2022 for our third edition.
Makeup is also a big innovation in the USA. In fact, Kylie Cosmetics which is made in the USA has become the global makeup leader. We had some fabulous entries for our makeup categories. Some notable Gold Winners from our American beauty awards are the following:

Best Direct Selling Beauty Brands - with award winning products from the 2021 Global Green Beauty Awards
Hi again everyone,
Today I’d like to take a deeper look into more winners from the Global Green Beauty Awards. This time - they all have something in common - they are all from MLMs, aka Direct Selling companies. These companies aren't found in shops, but are sold by their distributors, or from the brand's website. There is a lot to squeeze in so let’s not won’t waste any time and jump straight in!
First we’ll take a look at Nu Skin, one of the world’s leading anti-aging companies and originally founded in the United States. They have recently been in the news as last week, in quick response to the current situation in Afghanistan, employees spent a day creating language learning activity sets and toys for refugees arriving in Utah. Additionally, the company made a $20,000 donation to the International Rescue Committee. This impressive act towards helping newly arrived people with a massive culture shock demonstrates not only their company values towards the current global situations but has the added effect of making employees feel like they are directly helping others in need as well as creating a new dynamic between employees, surely deepening bonds and relations.
Nu Skin were gold winners for BEST SHEA BUTTER PRODUCT with their Nu Skin Epoch® Baobab Body Butter Tube. This product is a god send for dry skin, and has a delicious scent that you won't resits.
BEST VEGAN MAKEUP BRUSH GOLD WINNER was Tropic for their EcoArtist 3in1 Eye Brush. Founder and CEO, Susie Ma, grew up in the tropical North Queensland City of Cairns in Australia. Inspired and educated by her grandmother who was a medicinal chemist and toxicologist, Susie learned that skins needs to be treated with healthy and natural ingredients. Fortunately, the tropical climate was rich in exotic plants and this has influenced the products used at Tropic.
BEST VEGAN ANTI AGEING PRODUCT GOLD WINNER went to MONAT and their Botanic Bakuchiol Lotio. I love the way these guys describe themselves so rather than paraphrase I’ll share this wonderful statement from their website where they describe their purpose-
