This is Dan with another blog from Italy lockdown! In a minute I want to tell you some exciting news about the imminent launch of the 2020 Green Global Beauty Awards but first here’s a little update from life in lockdown in the Brescia region of Italy, one of the areas hit hardest by coronavirus. Strangely, after over three weeks I feel like I’m getting used to this staying at home malarkey. It’s definitely a sad time for all of us in Italy and tragic that so many people are losing loved ones. However, it’s important for us to all stay fit, healthy and, most of all, positive during these challenging and uncertain times. Some positives which I have taken are: Doing online fitness classes with my old outdoor fitness gang from London. We used to train together in the park at 6:30am three times a week, rain or shine. In fact, I remember once after training through a huge downpour, that the local rugby coach furiously called all his players from the park to demand why they couldn’t turn up to their training session while we all could! Anyway, we’ve been training together online and its been great to see friends who I haven’t seen for four years. Online Poker – A little less healthy but last night I had so much fun playing with my old school friends online. We even did it in fancy dress. I’m kind of enjoying experimenting with the freedom lockdown fashion gives. Anything goes! Acting – Haha! A close friend and I are also practicing our (extremely) amateur acting skills through facetime. We’re currently trying to work out what the heck is going on in Waiting for Godot. Music – Well, I always have time for music but I’m enjoying learning new songs on the ukulele and trying some beginner flamenco guitar techniques. Another reported consequence from lockdown has been greatly reduced pollution and reduced human impact on nature. Sadly, Brescia is one of the most polluted cities in Europe. I’m lucky to live outside of the city and near the beautiful Lake Garda but the traffic can still get extremely bad here, especially during the summer with a high volume of tourists and very few alternate route to get between the towns on the lake. The environment has been on everybody’s mind for quite a few years, but Greta’s recent campaign has brought it even more to the forefront. Such a huge achievement! We’ve already seen a lot of our previous award winners have business models which promote green practices and this April we will launch the 2020 Green Global Beauty Awards. Entries open April 1 st and these awards are obviously exclusively for green/clean brands. The Global Green Beauty Awards comes under the umbrella of the Global Makeup Awards for those brands who want to reflect their greener cleaner side with an awards specifically dedicated at their efforts. With attitudes changing and people wishing to have a more eco conscious beauty regime, we couldn't think of a better way to recognize industry experts than with the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards. Brands are welcome to enter both the Green Awards and the Global Makeup Awards. There will also be categories for organic products, reflecting the demand from customers to use more ethical skincare products on their skin. These awards are open to brands across the globe! Don’t hesitate to enter if your brand strives to create ethical and environmentally friendly products! That’s all for now folks but I’ll update you again soon! Until then, stay safe! Dan |
